Quite something that Friday had an article on the BBC Sport website bemoaning the lack of long-range goals anymore in the Premier League, and then two outside-the-box hits tilt Newcastle from defeat to victory at Molineux. Still unbeaten too, despite still arguably not playing that well and having had a week of our manager and sporting director apparently being sassy about one another.

 

Also will note a slightly surprise at the North London Derby before it. Thought no Rice or Odegaard would leave Arsenal with problems but Spurs just didn't get it together.

For all the criticism of the sprawling format, most people don’t pay attention until the knockouts anyway. It’s just a different way of pretty much the same teams advancing.

I guess there'll be a degree of interest this year with this being the first chance the new format has had. Until now we've just been contemplating how this looks in theory, or at least playing it on Football Manager/FIFA.

 

The BBC getting a weekly highlights show is also a good thing and frankly something UEFA should've looked into a lot sooner. Even if it being on Wednesday this week means it misses the 6 games being played on Thursday.

So had I until yesterday tbf. But next week is Europa League only then the week after the UCL goes back to Tue/Wed only. So I guess this is just by way of introducing the league for this season.

(i did get told a name but the words went straight thru my head. i do remember that he's black. when i quiz her for deets,  i should get a name.

That second half yesterday was wild. It's easy to say that if the goal that made it 2-2 had come straight after the break, the walls might've come tumbling down, but Man City had a surprisingly small amount of ideas for breaking Arsenal down during the second half.

Newcastle were meant to be at AFC Wimbledon tomorrow for a Carabao Cup tie as we try to move on from a bad display/result at Fulham, but judging by this and a postponement, the weather's had other ideas.

Apparently this is more asymmetric, where the tribunal said the ideas of the rules are valid but not how they were applied.

 

Not sure if this means that Newcastle can get our Saudi overlords (in charge for three years as of today) to go for it and just throw hundreds of millions at our squad, or at least be able to buy a striker that is less fragile than Callum Wilson.

It feels like the favourite is Thomas Tuchel, although having another Eredivisie title winner as their assistant manager in Ruud van Nistelrooy (formerly of MUFC as a player, ofc) feels like another option.

 

Moyes is absolutely not ending up back at Old Trafford and I'd double check where you may have heard that.

moyes is available and has improved as a manager since he left OT. Klopp is also available,and one of those possibles seems much more likely than the other.
