Blimey. That's quite the situation.

I mean, let's be fair - if you've got a set budget to spread across three acts and you've finally managed to nab Green Day - assuming they were a lock as early as the summer - then I understand lowballing Sleep Token if MCR are also on the page.

My Chemical Romance / Green Day / Sleep Token

Then:

My Chemical Romance / Green Day / Korn

Then:

Muse / Green Day / Korn

Then:

Sleep Token / Green Day / Korn

Which is kind of insane, because it would mean Korn came in as a replacement for the smallest headliner of the three, who then came back anyway.

It was quote obvious Korn were chose  due to dropouts/not getting their bands.

It's still a strange one for me Green Day as big as they are playing the Friday when historically the bigger band plays the Saturday which draws bigger ticket sales.

Just makes me think whether they initially said yes and then pulled the plug.

It's a least an 18 hour drive from UK to Florence maybe longer for a truck on tacho rules.

I'm less convinced they are at Download now for those reasons.

Didn't AC/DC play the Friday in 2010?

Well, moreso initially that they were cheap to offset MCR + Green day or Muse + Green Day or whatever. Then rather than dumping them they're just giving them the spot anyway and either pocketing the change or spending it on a bigger undercard.

The thought of them having both MCR and Green Day in the same year is mad. Two of the biggest bookings they could make. If MCR are sticking around, it could work out better in the long run not having them in the same year and they can spread them out over multiple festivals.

They did but there wasn't a weak headliner

There was a weak headliner before they became available; Them Crooked Vultures were booked to headline. It’s a good thing Acca Dacca became available because TCV would have been a PR disaster. The DL crowd famously didn’t give a sh*t and I maintain that that one single experience is why Dave Grohl hasn’t brought the Foos to Donington.

So there wasn't a weak headliner then overall. TCV were crap anyway but yes Foos won't play Download.

So are people ruling out MCR?

Also if that post was real that green day andrew WK clash would be hell

It won't ge right, you get got bands like I Prevail for example that have already played above that level two years ago, Placebo only two years ago. AFI aren't subbing 3rd stage after playing 3rd main last time which was their last UK shows. JEW would be at least one higher if not two with playing Ally Pally and Frank and The Souls would be.

Also a random HIM reunion thrown in playing fifth down the second stage!? If they were to reunite I think they’d at least sub (possibly even headline) the second stage.

Would love HIM back. I messed up by mot going to their final gigs, thought it was expensive at the time and I couldn't make ville vallo. One of few acts I've not seen.

Puts FiR back into the mix, I’m expecting them to sub Korn at this point.

Spiritbox are nailed on, probs 3rd down main stage on Sleep Token day

This has made Spiritbox likely for Sunday along with Flogging Molly. I think that nails on FIR for a sub spot. I'd say Idles are out and I wouldn't expect much from that day bigger wise, Austria in one day seems a lot.

I reckon Falling In Reverse will sub Sleep Token or headline 2nd when Green Day are on. Spiritbox for 3rd down main on either Korn or Sleep Tokens day.

Spiritbox are one of the bands I've been told are playing tbf, not sure if I've mentioned that here or somewhere else but there we go. It lines up with that potentially being right which is interesting. Wonder why it's held back if true though

Heard any other acts bar them and the headliners? We should actually get a decent idea on who we could get with the RIP/RAR announcement today.

Only Spiritbox and Motionless in White alongside the headliners. The RiP/RaR announcement will definitely be a bigger indication of who we might get! Weird looking forward to announcements from festivals I'm not going to

I think  that's just a festival thing with people on here that do them year on year. Most people I know outside of here don't even consider when an announcement is, it just comes when it does.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
