This is the kind of mental gymnastics that Americans use to justify ignoring environmental issues lol.

no gym required.  the top 1% richest emit 20% of the worlds carbon emissions, and china emit more than the next 25 countries combined. Globalised capitalism and corporate profiteering make everything we do as individuals superfluous at best and an insulting waste of time at worst. but if it makes some of you feel better using aluminium over plastic at a yearly rock festival then more power to you. I wish my ignorance extended this far. We've been recycling all of our lives fastidiously and it's made such a difference to overall emissions and the planet.. now about those mental gymnastics?

It's not ignorance, it's having accountability. As it was put so eloquently before "the raindrop never blames itself for the flood". Just because our individual impact is small, doesn't mean we shouldn't at least try to be better. "Other people do worse so I won't bother" is a very unhelpful attitude to have.

Anyway back to the festival. Someone just posted on a GnR forum that he's heard Guns N Roses are strongly rumoured to being announced for Download festival tonight. He hasn't quoted a source though and I'm pushing for one. I'd take it with a real pinch of salt - they have said they are touring in 2025 but no shows announced at all yet

GNR would be a hilarious own goal

I agree with you. But sadly we are less than a billionth of a raindrop in this equation as non top 1%ers living in the UK. An ideal world sure. But everyone i know including myself recycles and drives low emissions cars. we're regular people. what else can we do when governments don't really care. £12.50 ulez in london for example, just punishes poorer people who cant afford newer cars or rip off train fares. SO climate is important, but for £12.50 it's not that important... sadly, this has to come from the top down, not the bottom up.

Without a source I'd just say they're making it up to get a reaction.

This is not aimed at you personally.

But I do find it amusing when ‘activists’ point out things like switching to water in cans instead of plastic, yet then continue to eat meat products which contribute significantly more to negative climate change.

I wonder if there's anyone at the Gala on this forum laughing evilly at us because we have no leak yet lmao.

"What's their opinion on Green Day?"

"I don't really know, they just seem to be arguing about whether or not they are complicit in the destruction of the planet because they prefer bottled water over canned."

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
