Hellfest 2023

Don't think it's a mistake. This trio Sum 41 - MGK - Papa Roach should have a really good welcome! It's a surprise but not a mistake. The surprise is when I heard some people saying Main Stages are shit... KissIron MaidenMötley Crüe and SlipKnot for a metal festival in 2023 is pretty decent. They were supposed to have Rage Against The Machine on the first day but they cancelled due to Zack illness. Seems System Of A Down and Avenged Sevenfold aren't coming to Europe this Summer. They had Guns N Roses this year. All of this together, they couldn't have better headliners. Honestly, I expected Pantera as headliners. Glad it's not the case! And except the line-up below Iron Maiden, the other Main Stages have good names and look a lot like the other metal festivals, with some surprises like Tenacious D (only announced at Rock Am Ring and NovaRock I think), Electric Callboy (booked on many mainstream festivals), MGK (already mentionned), the trio Within Temptation/Powerwolf/Arch Enemy is strong too now.

Forget 2022. It was a special edition you won't see ever again 🙂

I don't think 2022 edition is better than this 2023 (except for the headliners of course).

I just say MGK, a pop band with a little "rap flow" doesn't belong to HellFest. I've been to this fest' many many times, and I've never seen something like that. Even in the Twitch presentation, HellFest boss was a bit embarrassed about MGK and Mod Sun (damn, that's even worse..). They even had a "embarrassed laugh" at Mod Sun !

Anyway... the line up remains great to me ^^

I wasn't personally bothered by the first 5 days of headliners this year. In fact I was would only have seen 4 of the top two across the board. The first Friday was the strongest day for me too.

Lacks the wow factor of previous years, but objectively a massive lineup.

Machine Gun Kelly is definitely the most out of left field booking for this year. Hopefully the people who don't want to watch him go to another stage instead of ruining it for the people who are keen. As someone said above, MGK into Sum 41 actually makes a lot of sense. Will be interesting to know how he goes down, though.

Honestly, I kind of love that MGK is such an unexpected pick for Hellfest 2023 it adds a fresh edge to the lineup. His performances carry a lot of emotion, and when he connects with the crowd, it really feels personal. The whole Lost Americana phase shows a more vulnerable yet confident side of him that’s easy to relate to. I also adore how his style reflects that journey, especially the MGK Lost Americana jacket, which feels bold but soulful. It’s the kind of look that tells a story, just like his music.

it turned out he couldn't finished his set because people were "booing" too much, so he left.

A mistake HellFest does remember, so they didn't book that kind of act in 2024 , 2025 or 2026.
