The 1975

I'm totally not The 1975's audience (far too old) but I think they're amazing.

They're very different to what I usually listen to but have seen them live 4 times now and they really deliver. When they play "The Sound", it's going to be a Glastonbury moment.

Totally agree that Matty can be an asshole but I have come to terms with the fact that most great pop/rock/music stars are just awful people. I can't imagine how you could be in that position and still be normal.

I'm really surprised at how dismissive people are of them, but totally understand that people's tastes differ. I feel like that about Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Muse, for example.

I've never seen the 1975, only own their debut, but I am intrigued and there is a chance this show could be a real catapult...just wish FOALS would have gotten that shot they were close to...

Foals and Biffy Clyro the two that got away for me. For a brief moment, think both were probably big enough - but then it passed.

Sounds strange, to say they've been ready since about 2020, but think if The 1975 don't pop up this time around, they'll join those ranks. 2027 is a long way away and always hard to see who sticks around.

As mentioned in the 2025 Headliners thread, The S*n - and since picked up by others - say that album number six is imminent.

They also doubled down on them being Glastonbury headliners, though there does seem to be some speculation they are out in favour of Sam Fender.

Just need The 1975 announcement so I can rest easy until June. Simply don't care about the rest of the lineup (half true)

Yeah, not out as far as I know. But was using it to illustrate the point that not too many sit at the top of the rumour mill for this long and then drop out without good reason, if that makes sense.

I'm about seventy-five percent certain they're in. The issue is simply down to whether Glastonbury feel Healy's behaviour is ultimately prohibitive to the position of Glastonbury headliner.

I see little if any evidence that Glastonbury cancels bands or artists based on their behaviour.

Very possible I’ve missed something. Has anyone got any examples?

On the whole you're right, but I don't think Dizzee Rascal has been booked since his DV conviction.

Slowthai was also quietly dropped from the lineup one year.

As was Nina Kraviz, for being a Putin fan girl.

Interesting

If their cancelling people for political views then I imagine a lot more should go.

IIRC Emily was hosting Ukrainian refugees at the farm so it was probably an easy decision to make!

Grimes will never get booked if you wanna put it simply. Same with MIA.

I’ve seen both of them play at Glastonbury. Grimes on The Park, brilliant, and MIA on WH.

Why wouldn’t the later be booked?

    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
