When you are wealthy you can be a pensioner from the age of 50

Of course but Walkforever referred to them as pensioners which you wouldn't ordinarily do for 50-somethings, even though it could strictly be true.

Probably over-thinking this but I'm not sure band members would have a pension...interesting point really, would wealthy musicians have been paying into a pension plan to receive a pension in their 50s?  Retiring through wealth is something different and they wouldn't then be pensioners.

As I say, I think I may be over-thinking this....

Paul Weller is 60. @walkforever's post made it sound like a band to me though.

60 is not state pension age though.  He could have a personal pension at 60 but I doubt it.  Should we really be analysing what a pensioner is in popular speech?

And yeah, he said the band's guitarist.  So seems to be a band.

Only one I can think of this time of night is The Stranglers , who played Leeds Academy this year .

I saw em at Lunar Festival this year and they were excellent.

Stranglers would be good. I saw them years ago and had a good singalong. Wouldn't be wildly excited but happy enough.  Pretenders or Simple Minds? Meh. Not sure I'd be there - would go to one of the other stages I think. But that's not a problem.

Doing a bit more research it looks like The Stranglers are playing Las Vegas same weekend as BT

I can vouch for Simple Minds putting on a good show. Was surprised how tight they were a few years back when they played the First Direct Arena (with the Stranglers in support, funnily enough).

However, I did hear mixed things about their recent jaunt; the line-up has switched up a bit, with a few members held over from their acoustic tour and sounds like it perhaps hasn't quite come together the way it should.

Tbh I think I'd have to relisten to them as it's so long since I heard them I can't remember what I think of them other than the obvious ones.

It could be wrong and I wouldn't want people to have less faith in me.

Aww  go on - I just want to have something to think about - thinking about whether I'll go to see someone who may or may not play is fine by me at the moment.

The clue is in the sentence.

Is your God a DJ ?

My God's a guitarist who only uses 5 strings but for the sake of this conversation, yes. :D

This is only of a fellow eFester though, I have no idea how likely.  They do some bizarrely popular for an act with only 2 songs, and they sound the same.

Saw them at Womad back in the late 90's. For a band with only 2 songs, they were absurdly good! One of those 'really great in a field' bands! Fair play if BT have got them, as they usually play much larger (and expensive) events...

Tbh BT is the sort of festival where I might just give them a go on the basis that if I'm not enjoying it, it's so quick to get somewhere else.  And I must admit that when I listen to festival playlists, there are many songs/acts where I think "ooh I like this" but then can't quite imagine listening to it in a field or tent but only relaxing at home.  And equally, vice versa.  There is music I wouldn't listen to at home but live is fantastic!

Oops typo - or brain freeze, one or the other, have changed it now.  Doesn't sound like we'll know the other main stage headliners then though, Faithless or not.

I think we will get most if not all of the Pallet/Woodlands acts

    • First outdoor gig of the season for me last night. David Byrne in a soaking wet St Anne’s Park. Absolutely spectacular (didn’t expect anything less to be fair!). If you get a chance to catch him on this tour, don’t hesitate. At least half the set were Talking Heads classics. Marvellous all round (ok, I’ll let him away with the song about how much he loves his apartment😁).  IMG_1177.dng

    • Don Broco secret set.
    • Regarding PinkPantheress: I watched the ending of The Cure from the back and then bolted straight to Cupra to save spots on the steps for my entire festival crew. Thus, we all had a good experience there. Sucks that not everybody got to properly see it, but it felt like something out of Glastonbury where those who showed up long in advance got to see a big artist on a smaller stage in good conditions.
