Hi all.

First time coming to Glastonbury next year!

We are going to hopefully get a campervan ticket when they go on sale.

Which is best for travelling from the Midlands East or West?

So excited and it's only October!!!

It depends on where you think you will be in the evening, which is impossible as we have no line up yet, as much as the ease of driving there, as it's feasible to both sides. Raving all night may then be better being on the West side since it's nearer those areas. We come from the North and end up in East, even though I spend a lot of time in the Park. I reckon you should be on site for hours, so the location of the van isn't too critical, although there more chance of avoiding Bristol coming back by leaving from the East.

I only ever go in East, but I gather from other posts on here that as West is smaller then the passes can sell out quite a bit faster.

If we get there wed morning early say 8ish is it ok getting into east?

How far is the walk from back of campervan field to gate?

You should be fine arriving then. 2 years ago was the furthest we got placed and that was about half an hour to the gate.

We've been in the family campervan field a few times. It's right at the back. Never really bothered us apart from the occasional 'oh - another!' when you realise you've 1 more field to go!

How close can you get to the festival entrance roughly if you get to Campervan East on Tuesday at about 7pm?

To be fair you may be right but the field we've been directed to when asking for family camper vaning has always been the field to your immediate left (E25 I think ?) when getting to the campervan fields. Often arriving latish Wednesday afternoon though. 

Hmmm just looked at the map. Perhaps E25 is a bit closer than I thought but doesn't look much in it. We were in E14 (close to E15) last year and was still fine. Well, perhaps a little muddy.

E21 (which is the closest field to Gate C) 8/ a family/disabled field. I guess they use others as this'll fill up quite early.

It's disabled over spill to the right of the field looking towards the site, the rest is staff which is why it fills up so early.

Not as straightforward a question as you might be thinking.  There's more than one field.  Some are flat, some less so and some flat in parts and sloping in other parts.  There is also the so-called "hill of death" which is a short-ish, steep-ish hill which most (?all) people will have to wander down as they enter the festival site via Gate C - and then wander back up again on their way home.  In honesty, I didn't find it that difficult a hill to climb (and  certainly less hard work than the one to Worthy View - which wasn't a killer either) but I guess it depends what your fitness levels are like.  Have you a particular reason for asking?  It might be easier to give you a useful response if I understood what that might be.

Would recommend East from personal experience, but some really like the West. As its your first time though i would definately say to go for the East as you will get the view and sounds of the festival as you walk to get C. It is the most amazing feeling ever. I wish i could have that feeling again, nothing will ever beat your first view from the top of the hill:)

Congrats on getting a cv ticket (and a general admission ticket). You're likely to have the time of your life!

I would suggest, if you can at all, try and get there on the Tuesday.  My first time, 2010, we arrived late on Tuesday night and started to get a feeling for how good the festival was going to be just by how wonderful the neighbours were.  We took a bit of a stroll and ended up at the top of the "hill of death" (not that I knew it was called that at the time) and caught our first proper glimpse of the site - all lit up and beautiful.  Amazing.  Then on the Wednesday morning the feeling of excitement just built as thousands of people carrying heavy loads and obviously not having had much sleep but with huge smiles on their faces missioned on down through the fields from the car parks.  

I'm really envious of anyone going to the festival for the first time - it's a special experience.

Been wanting to go for years but it never seemed to fall right.

First time trying to get tickets and we managed to sort both quite easily.

The Wednesday is my birthday too so hoping to get down after work on Tuesday!!!!

Cant wait!

I'm really envious of anyone going to the festival.  We failed on tickets this year and will be banking on the re-sale.

I love taking newbies round to see the looks of utter amazment on their faces as they take in the glories and utter enormity of Glastonbury for the first time. A good starting experience is to go to the top of the HoD on a Tuesday night and look out over the site all lit up.

The other joy of the CV Fields is that there is no rush.  Having got set up and sorted on Tuesday you can have a leisurely breakfast on Wednesday and then a gentle stroll down to Ped Gate C to get wristbanded.

You'll then be free to walk unencumbered round the site while all the tenters are still lugging in their gear and setting up.

That 'bonus' Wednesday is a great chance to explore the site and orientate yourself.  Walk, walk and keep walking.
