I came across this image but not sure if there is a second as there is some missing { or perhaps not if they started in 1983 }

I know that I started with the WBC in 1989 so they were the last punter wristbands I have ever had .

can anyone recall if they had them in 1979/81/82

I do not remember wrist bands until 1992, the year after a year off in 1991 and the "travellers riot". Wonder if these were crew/performers....

they are punter wristbands as I still have the tickets - I did not start working at Glastonbury until 1989 so there is no way they could be crew wristbands.

Ok my memory fails me...nice pic though and those types of bands are very sweaty

not sure if they were used when I started working there - this one is on my server - the one on the right was for sure a Guest pass/crew pass - the blocked out area ' had on stage written on it ' and that was all that was required to get in - people used to pass them out so others could get in so for sure there was no wristband at the Phoenix.

You still have 2004 on your wrist! How has it not been utterly obliterated over the years? They are pretty resilient, but I've only really been able to keep them on for about 2, maybe 3 years before they just become a sliver of fabric. What's the secret - you must care for them like your babies

have a lot of them - they seem to preserve themselves better in numbers.

Cant recall which year but I did see one of the WBC staff who had a whole arm full get caught out going though a Crew security gate as the security guard cut though all the old wristbands - he protested but as he had them all on the same arm he was told that if he did not agree he would not get into the backstage compound - he was not happy but as he was due to start work he had to agree.

I can definately remember my hand being stamped with ink as a pass-out in 1995, so I'd say that wristbands were'nt used untill after then.

you did see the image I posted ?

do you think I made them up ?

those years I was a Punter so they must have been issued as I drove in - sure back then there was no external parking or camping outside the wall so there was no need to leave - you appear to be confusing things - sure you may have been stamped when you went to your car ' but you still had a wristband ' - the stamp was just to prove you did not take the wristband off and pass it to a friend .

What year did you start parking outside the wall? There were definately no wrist-bands in 1995.

What year did you start parking outside the wall? There were definately no wrist-bands in 1995.

So you claim that GFL went to the trouble of making up wristbands in 83,84,85,86,87 etc etc and then dropped them in 1995 ?

does that make any sense ?

I started working there in 1989 so that 1987 was the last Punter wristband I was issued so I don't have a clue what was issued but I would find it dead unlikely they dropped them in the 90's.

Yes they did in 1993 and 1995 as there were people inside the gates offering to buy them off you once you came in the gates, and I've only had punters tickets. Edited by 5co77ie

We Parked by the bungalow near pennard hill farm in 1995, Jumped the fence to gain access and exited with an ink print on my hand for re-entry. The afore-mentioned ink print (whilst still wet) was transferred to our girlfriends hands pretty much straight away. We all re-entered without a wristband, but with the illuminous stamp on our hands.

Trust me mate, I was there!

which is exactly why i questioned the wrist-banding prior to 95'

I'm not proud of it, but I'm not ashamed of it either.

We were all in and out all weekend, without a wrist-band.

I did similar. I bought tickets in 94 and 97 (missed 95), and paid someone in the car park 98, 99 & 2000 to stamp my hand with something that could be seen only under uv light, which I believe was the car park pass out.

Obviously I didn't have a wristband when I didn't buy a ticket , but I have no recollection of having one in the other years. That doesn't mean I didn't have one though!

Certainly we weren't checked and the car park pass out alone was enough.

You have the bloody cheek to question me and its now clear the reason why you did not have a ' weekend ticket holder wristband ' was because you climbed over the bloody fence so no wonder you did not have a wristband. Tickets that were £65

1995 was the year the perimeter fence was taken down at the top of the site aggravating the problems of trespass for other land owners adjoining the site and risking the whole festival license.

Mendip District Council estimate that in 1995 80,000 ' did not have tickets ' so doubling the attendance

Clearly the re entry procedures is a ' completely different matter ' and Stewards { or security } will have to explain themselves why they were not checking that people did not have a weekend ticket holder wristband.

If you had bothered to buy tickets in 1995 you would have been issued a weekend ticket holder wristband.
