New car stacking system

Lowther Calling

Recommended Posts

The grapevine has told me that there will be a car stacking system in place to avoid the massive queues on the A6.

So as you go under the M6 off the A6 at Emperors Logde and turn right, you'll now turn left which will take you on a circular road which will take you back to the point where you go up the steep bank to the car park.

Can't see it making much difference to queuing times, but will make a difference to local traffic.

Lowther - are they existing routes/tracks - or you think they are using fields/temp trackway?

Cant quite picture what you mean!

They are existing tarmac estate farm roads.

This should clear it up :)

(sorry its a bit crude)

I've heard they are bringing folk in at the bampton turning in Shap on the Knipe road from the south ! Dunno if that's true , defo emperor, deer lodge and caravans in near the castle entrance .

I would presume the fact Helton and whale are on the free ticket scheme now and Askham villagers can gat tickets for £100 the traffic will be down that way as well as some car parking in the future .

Monumentally crap single track roads which would leave lots of villages cut off.

My pop told me this so it must be true! ;)

Do emperors types drive in via a different entrance?

That I don't know sorry!

This might be the case if you're travelling from the south, but perhaps not from t'North.  There's different directions depending on where you're coming from this year (M6 J39 or J40), whereas in previous years travellers from both N and S have used J39 through Shap.  So that's perhaps another strategy to reduce congestion - have two entrances.  I'll be coming from the north so I can leave the M6 at J40 at Penrith, which is great because I hated having to drive way past the site and come north through Shap in previous years.  Anyway I guess we'll know for sure in a few hours!

Boilerman - from j 40 it's signposted as kendal calling or event traffic right through. Your following signs for Shap.

No probs getting to the gate then we had a 90 minute wait.

It's busy so hopefully most folk will be in before you get down.

Bit of mud around but no rain so far and dry just now.

Safe journey mate.

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
    • So for Harry Styles it was actually a plastic bag that basically blocks the view of the front and back cameras. You can still use the phone screen. It's much easier than using lockers, especially for people leaving for the last train etc    I think it's basically reliant on the threat of security kicking you out if you start filming.
    • Hey, does anybody have a joining link for the WhatsApp group plz? I know the secret sets get posted there but have a new phone and number
    • Do you think they'll release today's cupra pulse lineup?
    • I had a great time yesterday and came to the conclusion that everytime (or, more accurately, both times) I didn't have a great time at Primavera, it was water-related. Either there was too much of it (Thursday 2026) or there wasn't enough (Thursday 2022, week 1).
