I am keen on a bit of comedy on a hangover, there has been some great stuff on in the cabaret tent but I have not heard of any of the acts on the line up.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good stuff.

Well it's a bit like saying 'Point me to the good music that's on' - there's such a wide variety of comedy tastes on offer that what makes me helplessly crying on the floor with gulps might leave you totally cold...

But the ones I'll be making detours to see are: Shappi Khorsandi, Marcus Brigstocke (both sharp topical stand-up), Lee Nelson (character satire), John Otway (hilarious acrobatic musical mayhem), Josh Widdicombe (more stand-up), Jeremy Hardy (probably the funniest man alive - topical satire), Mik Artistik (never seen him before but he seems to be a firm favourite on here)

Oh and the Stephen Frost Improv Allstars at the Astrolabe on Friday/Saturday is very entertaining too - if you remember Who's Line Is It Anyway, it's that, live.

TBH, just drop in the cabaret tent anytime, and you'll know within 30" if it's your thing or not, but there are some truly brilliant performers in there, it's a major part of the festival for me and many others.

Hi mate,

As said above, just turning up whenever is a bad idea - there's a lot if crap on. Re hangover I assume you want morning stuff. So the best ones for you are:

Fri - Marcus Brigstocke, josh widdicimbe

Sat - Jeremy Hardy

Sun - Marcus Brig's00 policy unit. This would be my. Ingest recommendation as its him and three or so other big name comedians for an hour chatting together off the cuff.

These are all big headliner standard TV comedians in morning spots. If you need any other recs for acts later in the day, just shout.

Yes, but you know very quickly if it's crap and move on - also you can stumble on something brilliant & unexpected

Yep this is excellent, tends to be a big "review" of the Sunday papers, great start to the last day

Fair enough!

Policy unit is slightly diff mate, I saw it at Latitude. I think audience members shout out stupid policies then they decide whether to let them go forward. That time it was with Robin Ince, Simon Evans and Andrew Maxwell (am seeing tonight coincidentally).

Cabaret tent has the line up for each day on outside, so check it out and see if there are any names that you want to see. It is a cabaret tent though so not all the acts are stand ups

Phil Nicol is good but not that well know. Often head there Saturday night after the headliners have finished - gets very random after midnight and goes on till about 2am. Also check out the Maverick stage opposite

I've asked this before, but forgotten the answer.

Who was the guy on when the storm started last year? All the audience ended up down the front so they could hear him.

I only came in out of the rain, but he was excellent.

Much better than whoever it was followed him.

My memory tends to get a bit blurry at G.

Was it not Shappi Khorsandi? I wandered in just after the storm and it was definitely her onstage at that point.

She came on after he finished, she actually struggled I thought, mind you having to shout your act out over the rain was always going to be a bit of a challenge.

Nathan Caton is awesome too. Really awesome.

Edit: I've randomly walked in & seen some absolute rubbish but it's easy to walk out of even from the front & there's a decent bar & plenty of other things to see immediately outside if you are waiting for a particular act/comedian.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
