I've got a 3rd of a bottle of Kraken left over from new years eve sat on my alcohol shelf, after drinking the other 2/3rds of it in one sitting I've not been able to look at it since

might bring it along to Glasto with me and see if I can bring myself to try and tame the beast again, the problem is it's just so bloody nice

Had Kraken for the first time a couple of weeks back, the bottle always caught my eye but I'd never tried it before. It's delicious. The 1.5l Captain Morgan barrel bottle's a good one too, although not particularly Glasto-friendly! As is Woodford Reserve. Always love a good bottle, almost as much as I like a good drink...

so undecided on what spirit(s) to bring this year! all this talk of rum has got me hankering, but i see that Sainsburys have got their annual deal on Russian Standard vodka (£15 a litre!) which is what i usually go for as you can pretty much mix it with anything and the hangover's aren't too bad, but i've also been loving gin lately and that Aldi's own is very tempting. goddamnit - so much booze, so little time/space in my bag

Picked up some rum over the weekend and gonna make some concoction out of it, will taste over the next few days and repot back. Might also try get some gin for a hangover cure, they seem to work wonders for me!

To be fair, I find that spiced rum mixes with just about anything sweet.

How easy is it to get mixers once you are there? and how much are they generally?

Any of the shops / food places have them. I imagine the shops will be about £1 and the food places slightly more expensive, more around bar prices

Don't know whether to take mixers with me or just buy them there...

What do you lot usually do? I'm going by coach so don't really want to take loads of mixers with me.

Think I'm gonna take amaretto and vodka. Vodka can be mixed with anything so got a bit more choice.

Also don't know what to carry my spirits in everyday... I took mostly cans last time so didn't have the dilemma!

definitely buy mixers there - made the mistake of bringing them with me in the past and it's just far too much hassle. i'd rather buy some nice cold ones for a little more on site

and i usually decant my spirits in to a couple of 250ml bottles - one for each day, so that i don't have to carry loads with me all day/don't end up drinking it all on the first day. if you run out one day you can always head back to the tent and grab another

72 just for yourself?!

sounds a lot, but divided between 5 days it's only 14, baring in mind people tend to be drinking from the moment they get up to the moment they go to bed, i think it'll be easily done. i usually run out of cans by day 3 and then have to rely on spirits

Yes to myself. As floor filler says, it's 14 a day and I only top up with a few over priced ciders then as I go. if you start drinking at 10am through till, say, 4am, it doesn't work out that much (0.77 cans per hour). Even less when you factor in that i will have a couple in the queue on the tuesday night (but only a couple).

last year i think i brought 5 or six home with me based on the same numbers.

    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
