yeah, probably.

could probably be Friday Other openers and get there without too much hassle i suppose...

My thought, no issue at all with that. There is another show lineup up this year I'm sure of it and it'll be significant enough that R&L haven't applied the same booking terms as they did with Mumford & Sons.

I agree - I think there's something very fishy going on with the lack of R&L 'exclusive' (in some form), so something else has to happen.. and I think an opening slot on the Other would go down an absolute storm. That would kick off the weekend properly!

I think for the secret slot on the Other Stage to work properly it does have to be a bigger name than Kaisers or Beady Eye, I can see what they're going for, the weekend to start with a bang, libertines would be ideal

I really think it should be a pyramid secret slot. It was rammed in that field and its hard for people to leave if they arent interested

I think they had to test the waters though didn't they?

We knew about the Kaisers and Beady Eye on the Thursday and their performances were packed, so i imagine they just wanted to see if it was viable, and safe, to have a 'huge' band play their in it's place.

FWIW, London to Russia is 3hrs, easy.

They wasn't that packed, I strolled up half way through Beady Eye and got to the sound desk.

Kaiser Chiefs had plenty of room when I walked past at the start....again got to the Sound desk with ease and back out again. (Can't remember what I decided was a better occupation of my time :P)

Maybe i'm thinking about blondie - we didnt move til after blondie started and it was a nightmare getting out when i heard the first song and decided i wasnt having any of it

Not sure if they would fancy the rush around from Glastonbury to Russia for the sake of a Friday secret slot, small cheque and no TV coverage.

It's more a case of if they do it, they want to do it rather than it's a chore. It's the one fest they'd bother to do something like that for and the time they'd do it makes sense. Whilst I have no guarantee they will do it, based on what I think, there isn't really an alternative. Flo won't be doing it, her whole only doing one UK Festival date wouldn't really rule out a guest slot appearance.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
