It's just, like, my opinion man.

What IS rot is the view that everyone camps inside the fence for some kind of "communal experience". Most people these days just want somewhere to sleep, so why not provide that too?

Honestly, if ME said Glastonbury 2016 would be £100 more expensive and only pre erected tents, do you think it wouldn't sell out?

It would put me right off. I might still go, but then again I live on these boards, so am probably not representative of the public in general.

I'm saying it would sell out, if WV does, with all the extra facilities then £100 on top of a ticket for not having to lug / pack up a tent is good idea.

Unfortunately you do get some kretins that have no respect for other peoples things so not sure how well those tents would last after 5 days

i was in a podpad at lowlands this year. one of the big bellepad ones for six people. it was fucking great, highly recommended.

the cabin ones are very small, but they're wooden structures rather than tents.

WV sold out in record time, so why wouldn't ME want to do it? people are clearly willing to pay extra to camp in a pre erected tent outside the fence. I bet he could charge double for the same in Pennards and still sell in minutes.

Yeah fuck it, lets just go the whole hog put the plebs outside the fence as those who can't go without a hairdryer or can't be arsed putting up a relatively simple tent for a few days want to be closer to the action and can afford it?

Infact, every ticket should be double the price to keep away poor people all together.

In short - Worthy View - DON'T DO IT!

• Massive hike to get anywhere on site and then back again
• No nipping back to your tent for a rest/cuppa
• No atmosphere whatsover
• Facilities no different/worse than on site
• £500 far better spent on nice food or cold booze from the bars rather than lugging warm cans around

I'm genuinely really suprised at people on this thread reccomending WV - last year everyone I spoke to agreed it was very poor.and wished they were on the main site.

Don't like the look of the tents as much as the scout tents but if it's smaller then maybe will be a better solution.

TF is good. only real downside s the long walk back from the SE corner. For which reason we are goign to try WV this year.

I've done both, WV this year and TF last year. WV is better for me for the following:

Cheaper (scout tent vs the normal 2man one in TF) and the scout tent is alot bigger.

Closer to late night areas.

No pass out system/having to carry your ticket around all day. In WV you just have a different wrist band and you come and go as you please.

Other than the above they are basically the same. TF also actually operate within WV as well as podpads etc.

I'm not saying it should cost more, or provide anything other than a tent. I was merely saying that ME was looking at having only pre erected tents in the future, and judging by the popularity of WV I would say it's a lot nearer than you think.

And yes, anyone who can afford to "scrape" £220 plus travelling costs plus food plus a tent plus sleeping bag to go to a festival could afford another hundred or so.

Haven't stayed at Worthy View but stayed up there as Myhab. I have only ever camped in the main site on the outskirts Baileys/South Park and find these comments that you miss out on the festival atmosphere rather bizarre. Certainly hasn't been any particularly special atmosphere- above and beyond we had staying up there - in any of the places we have camped on site. However we are up and out early and only go back to sleep.

I personally wont be staying there this year as cannot justify the cost in comparison to staying onsite. However I do see the attraction especially if you are arriving late i.e Thursday or something as you don't have to worry about finding a space.

It is pretty well located for Shangri-La, Green fields and Park Stage and will be a lot shorter distance to get to these areas than some on site fields. I didn't find the hill a problem - it is steep yes - but only short - it was 2010 when we stayed there so red hot and bone dry so in the rain/mud might be a different story.

As with anything there are pro's and cons. Do whatever is best for you.

To be fair the tents are assembled fine and no more likely to leak that any other mid priced variety.

I just think that to save the couple of hours transporting stuff/putting up a tent but then have to spend over triple that over the most important days of the festival hiking up hill and down dale isn't worth the £500 cost.

If someone offered me the option of 150 cold pints of beer or an off site assembled tent I know which I would choose.

Each to their own though :-)

This is nonsense- most of us keep the same tent and sleeping bags for years and we take cheap foods with us. It's a stretch to afford it as it is- I don't get your reasoning of 'what's another £100?'- erm, it's a £100 I can't afford. If you've got money to burn, good for you- we're not all in that situation

most of us? Sorry I don't agree. If the ticket price went up to £320 it would still sell out

Having spent each year since 2007 camping at Big Ground, we (the misses and I) gave WV a go this year. We had a yurt for two for £350 (so not quite the £500 stated above). Not massive but really functional. 5 minutes from car. 10 minutes from the gate. The hill was nothing. Given that we spend most of the five days wandering and on our feet the short walk up the hill at the end of the night really was nothing. We were much closer to the late night action and consequently used it more. We had a couple of reasons for doing WV such as:

Anniversary of when we met (at Glasto '07) so decided to treat ourselves

Easier to get to so no need to rock up tuesday night/early wednesday morning

Wanted to avoid the chaos of trying to find somewhere to camp a la 2013 when we were queuing from 4.00am in the morning (in the car parks)

The whole "atmosphere" argument is bull. When we camped onsite the previous years it was great to be able to go back to the tents but that often became a lazy excuse not to get out (especially in the muddy years). We found that we stayed out longer and saw much more of the festival knowing that it was a bit more of a walk to the tent. Strategic use of lock ups for spare clothes and beer meant that we didn't need to go back so much.

In terms of distance, its further from Big round to the late night areas and The Park than it is from WV. It was nice having shower facilities but we didn't use them that much (years of baby wipes is a hard habit to break).

Finally, the drive out on Monday was so easy. It saved at least an extra 2-3 hours on the road as we were on the main roads so much quicker.

Would I do WV again. Yes. Would I camp onsite again. Yes. I think it depends on circumstances each year e.g. how many of us going/whether there are kids in tow/how much holiday we can take.

Very much each to their own on camping.

Yes dead easy if you are on a tight budget already. Whats another hundred quid? Pocket change!

It might still sell out, but if it went up that much in a year or two, there would be a fair amount of people cut off from being able to afford it.

But hey as long you can get a prime spot and not have to trouble yourself with pitching a tent...

This is exactly why there are options. If people can afford it and want to then why not stay in these areas?

If you can't afford it or don't want to then don't stay there.

Simples really.

It's like anything in life. Different people prefer different things for different reasons.

I would never laugh at or look down on people if they say they can't afford it yet it is ok for people to mock those that decide to spend the money and stay in places like worthy view or TF.
