it doesn't bear thinking about but after successive years of failure, I'll do what I've always done, kept away from Glasto hype and watched as little of the coverage as humanly possible.

why I take this attitude is hard to say, just think when you want something so badly and miss out, you just want to erase it from your consciousness as best you can.

still, im back to try again this year!

Wouldn't mind a wee bit of advice from all of you informed and festival educated folk.

My backup options would be -

Green Man

Latitude

Bearded Theory

Download would be an option but that'd be me going alone!

Could only really afford one, so which should it be if I blank on ticket day ?

Bearded Theory is good, a mini Glastonbury. Music mainly alternative, with some folk, punk and reggae assured. Be careful with the weather, as it is one of the first in the calender it can be cold!

Having this year driven to Glastonbury, Green Man, 2000 Trees and ArcTanGent from Cambridge, all of which were a similar (if not slightly further) distance than that, I know what you mean!

You need your head tested, but then again, I suspect you know that. That just sounds so brutal. I don't really like driving long distances. That said, I once ended up in a test vehicle that hadn't yet been taken to the market. It had loads of sandbags in the back to see what type of shit it would take, and was driven 24 hours every day for a few days by a team of drivers. There were three of us in the vehicle - two of us had been on the piss for 2 days, but the driver was sober. When the driver saw us flagging on our way to Exmouth and back in a single round trip, he got out some acid and gave it to the pair of us. What happened next was madness in the extreme. The grand finale of this was getting a stick of Exmouth rock smashed over my head before deciding to go to bed and call it several days.

Two of our friends, who also happened to be newbies, held on through all the stress and worry and got their tickets - via another friend who'd already got hers (as had the rest of us) - in one of the last secret resales, barely a month before the festival.

So if you miss out in a couple of weeks, by all means DO NOT give up.

This is the year...........We are normally 4 but, have convinced the floating voters that if we don't go we are never going.

Trying to explain the military exercise that is getting tickets to people who don't know is quite funny.

Register, Pass all details round, keep all lines of communication open, confirm you are all in position, open 48 windows, wait for 9:00 and pray.

Hope it works out.......we'll need 2 people in the slot at there is 8 of us.

Predictions

We're in a similar boat, booking for 7, including 5 virgins. The other veteran will be away on T-day so it's all down to me to organise it. As this will be my 8th consecutive glasto they all seem to think it'll be fine, they don't seem to realise how lucky we've been in the past, and how easily the dream could slip through our fingers! Also it's never been me that has actually got through to the booking screen, always someone else while I'm F5ing my heart out!

How do you decide how to split the group when booking? Draw straws for who's on the first screen? Seems harsh to split it 6/1, if we've gotta get through twice anyway then surely 4/3 is fairest, but how do we decide? Any advice would be helpful at this point, they're all asking me what the plan is and I'm feeling the pressure!!

In the interests of fair play I think you should go for the 6/1 option and have people decide who should be voted the one to be the one in that equation. The person who is to fail. That it creates psychological trauma and leaves that person unable to trust anyone ever again is neither here nor there. On second thoughts maybe that's not the route to go down.

No, better off the 4/3 route and names are drawn from a hat to see which way the split goes. There may even be some sort of free random name generator that you could use on line - a virtual hat, so to speak.

Or..

Each person trying on sunday has a different 4 names. Their own and 3 more. Each person has equal chance of getting a ticket depending on who gets through. Once person a gets through, you are all trying for the rest

I'm not sure... we missed out a few years back & did then get lucky in the resale, but this year I'm not sure if we'll wait, or take it as a sign that we should try a couple of alternatives instead - maybe Shambala or Standon Calling (Latitude depending on line up).

Or we might put the money towards a sneaky little trip to New York.

if I don't im just gonna sign up to one of those litter picking companies pay my 200 deposit to them and enjoy the festival , I'm sure they employ well more than they need and they would be getting my money so I wouldn't feel bad

yeah that's a brilliant attitude. If only there were more people like you signing up to help at the festival.

24 years old, says it all,

edit - actually, I apologise to other 24 year old's - that's an unfair comment, I'm sure you are much more mature than the Monkey. My 5 year old is probably more mature than the Monkey.

This seems fairer than anything we've come up with so far, thank you. Although I'm not against yoghurt's idea of doing the 6/1, means they'll all have to be really nice to me as I've got all the deposit money!

Thanks for your help guys, here's hoping we're all lucky this year!

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
