dont take it in at all, its a simple request. and its also for safety reasons, some people walk around in the bare feet at glastonbury and there is no way you would find all the pieces of glass in the grass if you managed to break one. Your crockery and cutlery should be ok but probably best to swap it out for all plastic stuff just in case you run the risk of having it taken.

Last year, they looked everywhere in our camper, under all the seats, all the presses and even in the boot thing that opens from outside. took them about 15min.

Please dont take glass anywhere near glastonbury, respect the farm and leave no trace!

As others have said, if in the CV fields the same no glass rules apply. The last few years I have been in CV fields, security have asked us to open up the van and asked if we have any glass. They do a quick search/look around. However I believe they do also conduct full searches at random (as they do on the main gates) where they would search the whole van thoroughly.

yep same rules apply. You may not be in side the wall of steal but it's still part of the festival and farm land. last year We just opened the door and they had a quick look round, we said there was no glass and we were on our way. However, other vehicles were having deep searches. Just take all your glass etc out and replace with plastic for the festival. Metal cutlery is fine but I don't think sharp knives are allowed.

Sometimes they do a proper search through everything, sometimes they stick their head in the door and then decide that they can't be bothered to turn everything upside down looking for something that isn't there.

Cutlery and crockery is fine. Don't take any excessive sized kitchen knives, do you really need them anyway? Don't take the bottle opener as if they find that going through your cutlery draw they will then start looking for the associated bottles that need opening.

Sometimes they have started searching through and asked if we have any bottles, we don't, but then on showing them the plastic bottles of whiskey and vodka that have just been bought by one of the gang at the airport that morning they realise that we know what we are doing and are not going to have a stray glass jar of coffee in the van either.

We don't take glass, for all the reasons above and make that clear as we drive in. So far our assurances have always been accepted. It's not that hard to follow the rules which are there for good reason.

Thanks for that, guess we will have to have to drink what we have now ; ) Will get some boxed wine, and give the bottled beers a miss : ( dont really like the canned beers, but Sheppys Cider near us sells there scrumpy in take away plastic flaggons, so a couple of them will see us ok over for a couple of nights. Dont tend to drink a hige ammout when on the actual festival site, its so expensive. Plus never drink any alcohol on Sunday with having to drive home same day.So looking forward to my first Glastonbury in a motor home, no more long walks loaded with tents etc.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
