Firesprice
Glass bottles are of course prohibited....so most of us will be bringing wine boxes and cans a plenty... but what about rum...whisky and vodka?!! I've read decanting spirits into plastic bottles isn't a good idea because the the strong alcohol breaks down the plastic and you end up with plastic in your booze... Any inventive solutions out there? What's everyone else doing?
FrankieX
You can always decant your spirits into a metal containers such as a hip flask, stainless steel thermal flask or the metal bottles made for cyclists and hikers which seem readily available. Peroni
I just decant and pre mix. So rather than just a bottle of vodka, it's a premix with vodka. I do it all the night before Not sure my booze is in the plastics long enough to be breaking down the plastic?
River
Been putting spirits of various strengths into plastic bottles for years for festivals and never had plastic in my drinks. Ive even pulled out rum thats been in a plastic bottle since August last year from out my booze cupboard last week and it was fine. I wouldn't worry too much for 5 days. Yoghurt on a Stick
Plenty of spirits are already now sold in plastic bottles. You could just buy them as those plastic bottles may differ from, say, a plastic pop bottle.

neilloggie
....I was thinking about that. Do you happen to know which spirits and where best to get them? I walked down the booze aisle of my local supermarket yesterday and was tapping all the spirit bottles to see if any were plastic...but they seemed to be all glass...got a few funny looks! sedra
Last year I found 1l festival gin, whiskey and vodka in squeezy packets - like large Capri sun packets but spirits! Tesco I think ?
markrkp
Make them up just before you set off, in the plastic bottles, and they should be fine. Probably not after a few weeks\months, but for a week, no problem I'd have thought.
payneruk
A lot of miniatures are in plastic now days. I take a 2lt plastic bottle and put some reinforcing tape on it in case in drop it. Then take a load of 'off the shelf' UHT OJ to mix it with there.
markrkp
I'm thinking of buying some pre-mixed spirits in cans. Asda have them for £1 a can. Not ideal, but easy option.
JGP
Most of the supermarket own brands are in plastic now i think?
AlanP
Don't think we'll need to worry too much over the 5 days at Glasto, although, there were times in the Sacred Space when it seemed I had spent 100 years staring at the one cloud...... Fingle
Sigh bottles or the non brand one from wilko are great, we attach them to the bags with carabiners during the day.
Firesprice
Decanting into plastic bottles. Think You maybe being over cautious. Alcohol hand gel doesn't seem to disintegrate it's container too rapidly so I think you'll be fine.
stardustjunkie
I would imagine coca cola to be more destructive than vodka. We all know how corrosive coca cola can be and that gets put in to plastic bottles that we often decant vodka/other spirits in to.
the beadle
Buy the pre-mixed cans, especially when they're cheap, there's a good double measure in them, so you know how much you've had if you can keep count of how many you've had! jenno1985
Just bought 2 sigg bottles from decathlon for 5 quid. Both 1 litre capacity. That'll sort my rum and gin storage issues.
neilloggie
Sainsburys, Morrisons and Tesco all have their basics/essentials/savers vodka and other spirits in glass bottles. (Us students can't afford the good stuff haha)

jenno1985
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/1ltr-aluminium-drinks-bottle-id_8317807.htmlquote name="thenavyone" post="4386090" timestamp="1401834678"] the website says they are 2.99 each but when in store they are 2.50 each. Bargin. .. seems the link doesn't work. Just search aluminium bottle on the decathlon site and its the 1st result. Made by yellowstone and available in blue and red.
