Anyone notice in the new full line-up that he's playing the Acoustic Tent on the Sunday?

I would recommend this approach from my experience last year. His set at The Acoustic looked loads better than the one I was at at The Pyramid.

On second thoughts, if clashfinder is right by clashing Bugg with Ed Sheeran (an odd decision by the organisers), I may just stick with Bugg on Saturaday. Mmm.

I liked his first album and watched him on the Pyramid last year. He's very dull live.

Not bothered with his second album but I can see myself watching him at this rate.

I, for one, am delighted that he is playing again on the Sunday. I reckon it'll be very busy though..

Don't be sad. If you want to see him, try to get nearish to the front, because that will be where the people who really want to see him will be.

For me last year, I thought he lacked the skills to work a crowd, but was technically very good. Hs voice does sound great live. I thought he had a lovely tone which really came over live for me.

However, all the people around me just nattered all the way through it, which just ruined the vibe of his songs for me completely. Actually, the same thing happened during Amy Whinehouse a few years back and I found it equally frustrating. This could be as much about The Pyramid being shit mid afternoon, as Jake Bugg being shit, but I have to say that I cannot envisage him faring any better in this regard on The Other Stage. I also have a bad feeling that with so many of his songs being on the quiet acoustic side, the might even be an issue with sound bleed from Metallica, despite the distance. There is certainly likely to be an issue with sound bleed from The Glade. So get near the front, where people will be into it, and the speakers will drown out people and other music.

Ignore the begrudgers. Dunno what the hell they've come on to a Jake Bugg appreciation thread to give out for, but a lot of them should know better.

I agree with everything amfy said - couldn't have put it better.

If you word it like that, then yes, but they are both still mainstream playing singer-songwriters. Thats fairly specific, and I wont be the only one who enjoys both.

They are also both fairly shit. (The ginger one is slightly less dull but this is only he is actively annoying.)

I think his positioning on the Acoustic stage is about where he should really be on the Other Stage. In years to come, my grandchildren will look at this line up and say to me, "Grandad, how the fuck did he headline over the Pixies"

He's alright. Not headliner material and more suited to a daytime tent slot. A pint of real ale up at the acoustic tent on a Sunday afternoon and I think he would be very enjoyable.

I won't be there, the lineup is strong this year and I will either be at Dolly wearing false tits and a wig, skanking to Ska Orchestra or watching White Lies into The Horrors depending on mood.

No way I would watch him headlining a Saturday night at Glastonbury.

Interested that a lot of the criticism of him on here is fairly 'constructive' in that it's from people like me who liked some of his songs, went to him live then thought he was rubbish. Will be interested to see how his headline set is received (I certainly won't be seeing either set). I basically agree that he has been over-promoted and also think that he is maybe getting more of a backlash than is perhaps totally warranted due to the amount of hype that he has had.

It wasn't. I thought the album was ok and that he'd be lost on the pyramid stage so went to see him at the acoustic tent. Got there early had a decent spot and everything and live he just bring nothing extra. If you like his cd you are better off just listening to his cd.

Saw him at Leeds a couple of years ago. After 3 or 4 songs, it all founded very same-y so I sacked him off.

It's the OP here.

So, now we have the stage times, I see I can watch a little bit of Metallica (out of curiosity and fear of missing the biggest name on the lineup) before choosing whether I should leave to see Jake Bugg. However, by then I will have probably sacrificed getting a spot near the front, which is something someone reccommended earlier in the thread to enjoy Jake live. Do you guys reckon its worth catching some Metallica first, despite metal never previously interesting me?

(Note I can't simply wait for Bugg's acoustic Sunday set cos I wanna see Ed Sheeran, as uncool as this is making me sound!)

It's a question of taking this opportunity to give Metallica a chance, at the expense of being near the front for Bugg.

I understand. What I'm saying is that you could just watch The Pixies and then be at the front for Bugg. The Pixies are probably something of a halfway house between the full on 'rock' of Metallica and more commercial indie anyway (this is a very general statement before anyone decides to go mental!). And it's not like The Pixies come around every day either.

If you don't normally have any interest in a type of music you are unlikely to start loving it when you see it at Glastonbury. If I were you I'd make sure you have a better spot for the act you do really like.

Haha, thats a fair point! I suppose its a combination of many people saying Bugg isn't so good live, plus the fear of missing out on the biggest act at my first ever Glastonbury. My admiration of Bugg's first album still stands though, and even if I catch the start of Metallica I'll be surprised if it doesn't push me away to see Bugg.
