Not sold out, why?

Think v announcing day splits earlier than previously said adds fuel to the poor ticket sales comment.

100%

if they announced big people like Tinie Tempah etc with the updated poster as well we'd know they're really in trouble.

I've thought in the last two years at Weston there have been a lot less traders and food stalls, especially in the outer areas of the site. Maybe the high costs of hiring space at the festival coupled with lower crowds is putting traders off

Always felt V was a good intro to going to festivals but now it's got lots of competition with smaller local festivals who get one or two good headliners but are much cheaper.

I think v missed a trick this year with having no deposit scheme, seems to work well at other festivals.

V seems to be one of the last major festivals that don't have this, would certainly help budge the ticket sales up. £200 is a bit steep for most for any festival, spreading that over 4 months or so would make the burden less.

I do not understand why it has not sold well as I think it is a good line up compare to other festival lines up around the country I have seen. I also saw the advert and they only mention all the average pop acts that are going to be there and not they acts that I think are good and the reasons why I am going, I.e kaisers, elbow, chic, manics, human league and star sailor

I will go for a day for 50 quid. So im hoping these supposed poor sales continue.

Which day do you want? I think with V announcing Tinie Tempah it shows they are wanting to up their sales so they must not be doing good.

40,000 sold for both parks or 40,000 all together? Out of 170,000 tickets? Less or more?

Even 40k for each park isn't great

Nice to see a new person round here, and with preferring chic and manics over pop acts most people here will like you :P But I agree that the line up is fairly good but not alot of people agree

there are some very very good things on the lineup but the fact its 2 days is a sticking point for many people, including myself. furthermore i feel that the reputation of the fest itself is putting people off who would enjoy those sorts of acts.

What do you mean reputation? The thing is not everyone wants to camp for 4/5 days and the 2 day thing is quite a good selling point.

For example I don't need to book any time of work, if I went to glasto/reading I would need to book time of work.

It's not sold out because the bottom has fallen of at all fests except Glastonbury. V was probably the last one to get slower sales, that what you get for predictable safe lineups.

Saying that most festivals do the same, so that's not just v. Although V is the only fest with the mighty wonderstuff and the manics.

I have looked at other festivals this year. I tried to a ticket for Glastonbury but did not get one, IOW good line up but hard to get to ie ferry, t in the park good line up but miles away, latitude crap/weird line up and beautiful days in devon I'd only a few miles away but has artists I have never heard of for £140! And thanks on saying my taste of music is good.

There was a TV advert for V Festival tickets on E4 tonight during the Big Bang Theory at 8.10pm, what does that say about sales so far?

also putting out flyers at gigs etc. they're even putting them on moving billboards in train stations.

the reputation of being a very chavy festival with shit crowds.

and what i said was the price in comparison to the days. if it were around 160-180 it would make much more sense that its a 2 day festival, but now its around 200, i feel a lot of people are looking to get more value for their money

If they spent more on the line up securing another international name for each day they might sell more tickets, just dont know who they could get and where to put them. Stage splits could be a good idea for them to release aswell, might help ticket sales

I dont know if its affordability or just starting to go out of fashion to attend festivals, but they dont seem to be selling as well on the whole.

Another massive issue is repeat bookings and what seems to be the lack of headlining bands around (especially this yr).

For me, poor sales were always going to hit V at some point, they obviously have their repeat customers but at what point is paying 200 for only 2 headliners become too much (1 of which is there every other year).

I dont think its going out of fashion to go to festivals, if that was the case there would be alot less 16-25 year olds at festivals which is V's target audience now. For headliner they could have gone for a big dance act like Calvin or Guetta, but that wouldnt be met with much happiness from people on here an tbh im glad they didnt.

Repeat bookings are the same for most festivals, it seems that between V and R&L, they must have acts signed to 2 year deals as Rudimental and Bastille are here again, with Disclosure and Jake Bugg at R&L being just a few repeats. Even some acts that people may like on here, such as Manics and Kaisers, are repeated from 2011. I guess its just a case of if you have seen them, see them again or see someone else because theres bound to be people who want to see them.

The cost may hit some people but might not hit others, theres always going to be current music at V and if its current there must be people who enjoy it, whatever the genre. I wont be seeing the headliner this year, and I oly saw Beyonce last year from the main stage headliners so they arent the major selling point to me personally

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
