Jaws - Four piece garage band Jaws are part of an emerging set of bands from Birmingham, recently they finally managed to take the step up from playing pubs at a local level to playing a festival like Leeds and Reading and having a nationwide tour. In 2012 they released some great singles including 'Surround You' ( now has 38,000 views on Youtube) and 'Toucan Self' before compiling a great EP called 'Milkshake' which came out in April 2013. Since then they played festivals including Bestival, Beacons, Kneedeep and of course R&L introducing stage last year where they played as the first act of the day in front of a great crowd at both sites.
On the BBC website Jaws were and still are the fifth most watched set of R&L 2013. They have then gone on to play a tour across the country selling out venues such as the Cockpit in Leeds (was a great show! ) which holds 500 people. They have several other tours planned as well as supporting Spector and the Twang later in the year.

Wolf Alice are pretty cool, their tracks 'She' and 'Bros' are sweet, and I believe they released an EP not long ago?

DIIV are an awesome shoegazey band, played this year but I only discovered them a couple of weeks ago, released an album called 'Oshin' last year, would highly recommend them.

Bosnian Rainbows are the latest project for Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, who was the guitarist for At the Drive In and The Mars Volta. Pretty cool experimental electronic rock band with a female vocalist, released a self-titled album in June

Oh and I second The Wytches, The Orwells and California X

Giants

Great live band and a bunch of fun would love to see them on Lock Up this year. If you into the hardcore punk look these guys up. Numerous people have recommended these guys and they deserve it. Go and see them trash up a house!

Baby Godzilla

Get this guys on Lock Up in 2014! I'm serious! These guys are mental! Wouldn't want anything else! Just look at some of the live photos and some reviews! This is a band that I need to see and you must all check out! Just to prove how crazy they are here is one music video where they just do Jager shots (was going to get a live one but the sound on it was shit)

Arcane Roots

Played this year but Blood & Chemistry is one of the best albums to come out this and I missed their set. Would love to see them opening main stage in 2014. Brilliant alternative rockers and they have big potential.

Hacktivist

Another hardcore band but these guys manage to blend rap well into their songs to make it fun, intresting and different. They also have done a good cover of Niggaz In Paris. They were there last year too but I missed them. Would love to see them on Lock Up again or on the main stage.

letlive.

Quite simply one of the best hardcore bands around! The Blackest Beautiful is contender for the best album of the year! It is simply amazing! They are also brilliant live and are a band that you should defiantly check out! I can't stress it enough. Would prefer to see them on Lock Up but main stage would also be good.

See last year's live at Leeds line up. A lot of the bands on 2012 live at Leeds line up moved on to the lower stages of r&l 2013. Some much higher than others e.g bastille saw them mid bill at Leeds met in 2012 then 2013 they were half way up the NME and to be honest could have been much higher by the time of the festival.

If they are over here i fully expect Vance Joy to play in one of the smaller tents.

I will do there profile properly in the morning however the itunes free single of the week currently is 'Riptide' by them... I personally think its my favorite track of the last few months and i can also reccomend there EP

Liked the first incarnation of TTNG a lot so was a bit unsure of the new version but after seeing them at Arctangent was absolutely sold. Keep getting Cat Fantastic stuck in my head.

Saw them tonight for the first time since the lineup change. I'd seen them a lot in Oxford pubs and the support circuit, but they were ace tonight. Think I even prefer them.

Yeah would say they are better. Was hoping to see them here in Cardiff but have to work and then they cancelled the gig anyway.

This is probably more of a shout for the 2013 festival period; but if you didn't manage to see them this year due to clashes or whatever then go watch Jagwar Ma at whatever festival they and you end up at.

Their studio output is lacking so there's no point posting a video but their live show is fucking A.

Not exactly new as they will be on their third album soon enough but they have never played Reading before. Plus always seem to be low at fests in the UK so people may not be aware of them. In the same sort of group of bands as Touche Amore. Wonderful live. Put on one of the most energetic and emotional performances I've seen.

Also Tall Ships are great. One of the best shows at Arctangent this year. I hadn't heard of them before the festival but they blew me away. Hard to describe their sound as anything different than Experimental Rock. Worth a go though.

Next are ME. Seem to have influences all over the place but are quite alot like Muse at their most brash. An Australian band but they seem to spend most of their time over here (although seems they have moved to Germany for a bit). Their album Even the Odd Ones Out is one of my faves of this year.
