I hope its 2014 as I don't have a ticket.

I appreciate what folks are saying about the crowd that they attract, but I have watched Kasabian and Artcic monkeys at glastonbury and the crowd have been great - but I wouldn't watch any of the above anywhere else.

Never watched Oasis last time they played - couldn't stand the scowling act - watched Beady eye this year and they weren't great.

Generalisations are fun and all but not all of their fans fit the brawling football hooligan persona. And I don't see why that alone would put anyone off their music, unless they're particularly sensitive about their musical tastes being superior to that of the man on the street.

Being born in the 80s the Brit pop era was a massive influence for me growing up, still my favourite era of music and I love and still love bands like Oasis, Blur, Pulp etc, doesn't mean I'm anything like what the snobby twats who think they can pass judgement on everyone think, I'm sure you may know a couple of people like that.

my biggest problem with Oasis is Oasis fans, there's a certain type that simply hasn't even attempted listened to any other music since the 90's

I quite like oasis, good sing along and great nostalgia. But there's not going to be any chance of a reunion until Noel suggests some form of interest. He's the one that quit and is still playing massive gigs. Liam/Beady Eye were the ones who got ditched and haven't really got much going for them. I wouldn't mind if they reformed but wouldn't be seeing them, they were w*nk at V in 09.

I reckon they'd be worth seeing, just for the classics, like Supersonic, Don't Look Back In Anger, Acquiesce, Hello and Rock N' Roll Star.

The thing is, out of the big British bands of the 90s, they were the ones who kinda stagnated and never evolved out of their comfort zone, whilst Blur, Radiohead, Pulp and the Manics all moved away from their radio friendly sounds. All them bands have gone on to release some very interesting albums that are worlds apart from their original sounds, whilst Oasis don't really have much worth listening to after Be Here Now which is, admittedly, a very underrated album.

I also agree with people that they're very popular amongst generic mod wannabe Indie types. Along with Arctic Monkeys, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, Miles Kane, The Libertines, The Courteeners, Jake Bugg, The Jam, etc etc. (Although I'm a huge fan of the Roses, Libs and Smiths :P)

Also, it's now very trendy to like The Smiths. You see all these teenage divs talking about Morrissey like he "understands" their soul or something, even though they were into N-Dubz two years ago.

Is it also worth adding that Noel Gallagher is maybe the worst lyricist of all time? No idea how some people can find his words to be inspirational and relatable - they're just meaningless garble!

Noel has all the demos written for his second High Flying Birds album and is going into the studio to record it early to mid next year with a release late 2015, so there's no chance of Oasis playing Glastonbury.

It's very sad to read all the judgemental comments on generic mod haircutted Oasis fans being brash lager louts etc...I'm probably one of the most die hard Oasis fans you could meet and I don't fit that stereotype in any way whatsoever. As for Noel being the worst lyricist of all time? He might emulate the Beatles or even rip them off (which he fully admits to doing) and not be the greatest guitar player or use the most complex riffs, but he is widely regarded as one of if not the greatest songwriter of the last 25 years by music publications and fellow artists the world over. Nobody can deny that Live Forever is a song in an absolute class of its own and some of his B sides, especially early Oasis ones, are absolute touches of songwriting gold. As people who reckon they're "only worth seeing" casually, you've probably never even listened to one of these, so it's difficult to take our argument seriously...

And on a final note, I've met both Liam and Noel, and they are both utterly lovely, polite and charming. Nothing like their old stage personas (especially Liam.)

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
