where do you think the so-called spirit of controlled anarchy came from? The fact the festival used to feel like it was something outside of normal society?

Do you think it's because of people like you?

Theft, physical assault, verbal abuse. Having petrol bombs thrown at you. All that is oppression.

mmmm.

not really what I was asked really so I'll repeat it so you can read again. and it's just a question so I can see where you are coming from and you can educate me with your knowledge of the festival

Out of interest who were these people who "made" the festival?

How were they oppressed?

and the photo? the address?

what if you prefer to live a transient, no fixed abode existence anyway?

Of course the sort of people who would be concerned about such matters stopped going to the festival long ago so these things are barely worth discussing now.

But the fact remains, whole swathes of people were excluded because of this registration process. A process which in my opinion should be hated. Or at least viewed as nothing more than a (debatably) necessary evil.

What should not happen is people braying "OBEY THE REGISTRATION RULES OR YOU DONT DESERVE TO GO" to people who havent registered.

I reckon.

I'm confused.

I was under the impression that the registration process was brought in to stop touts getting hold of tickets. And as far as I'm aware, it's been very succesful in it's aim. Would the people against the process be happier without it, with thousands of tickets getting into the hands of touts?

If you'd read the thread, the registration process is referred to as a necessary evil.

Touts are eliminated, but there has been collateral damage in so far as these measures also exclude certain other people.

This conversation was prompted after someone was mocked for not registering in time, and then it was suggested that if you dont register, you dont deserve to attend the festival.

The point being that many people who helped make glastonbury special dont go anymore, in part due to the registration process. And I just felt it was a bit rum for a person who is dead organised and good with computers to think they are somehow more deserving to go than someone who's existence is a little more alternative.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion

it's hardly evil

I think you're lumping the registration process in with the initiation of the fence. That's what really excluded the people (I imagine) you think made the festival what it was, that you miss so much. As someone else mentioned, you could get a ticket without a permanent address if you really wanted to.

The festival is what it is. For people like you, it's a 'victim' of it's own success. There's no way it could have stayed the way it was. It's sad that it looks like you're going to live the rest of your life not being able to accept this.

It is what it is, I agree.

But being highly organised and computer literate does not make you more deserving of attending the festival than someone who lives a life of chaos.

That's how this all started. People crowing at someone else just because they've got a shitty little deskjob that makes it easy for them.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
