Metallica for next year I think are a decent shout

Yeah if they're not at Sonisphere or Download it's pretty much in the bag.

Carl Barat has said The Libertines Gould have an album out by next year. It's looking possible

The Libertines Gould would be a decent booking. They'd need a new album to play again though I think.

It was really fantastic. I'm still exhausted.

Can't help but think it wouldn't work at R+L or Download though.

I'm sure if they played a Ten and Vs heavy set at Download they would go down great along with a few of the heavier songs from other albums.

Maybe, though I doubt they'll ever play Download due to their apparent aversion of playing heavier festivals. Eddie was still doing a little bit of crowd safety last night.

It just struck me how it was a much older crowd which made me instantly think that maybe they wouldn't go down too well at R+L.

Aww man, would've loved to have heard both of them but the songs they played will do me just fine anyway! I thought they had gone over curfew but apparently there is no curfew at Leeds arena due to 'special' soundproofing so they could have gone on even longer hahah. Also, I swear they played Whipping but it's not on any of the setlists? maybe I was just imagining things..

Well the staff need to clock off at the right time and cleaners to clean the place or whatever so I imagine there's a curfew for it for that sort of stuff. Though I was kind of worried when they weren't on at 8:15 that it'd be eating into their set time.

I don't recall Whipping being played I'm afraid. Shame not to have those two songs but Fatal was a really nice touch.

The 1975 subbing Andre?! While I think they're pretty good live, they are far from sub status! :P

I don't think they're ready to sub at all :P but it's something I could see them doing to keep them away from V, especially if they have a new album.

Dem patterns. You know a NME sub going to sub the Main :P

Wouldn't put it past R&L but still can't see it becoming reality any time soon :P

They reckon they're touring until January then working towards a goal of releasing their follow up in September, so it's unlikely they'd be doing festivals again without a new album. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they subbed in 2016 but we don't have a thread for that.

    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
    • Ultimately Glasto is just part of the festival circuit, however special we may think it is. The vast majority of its headliners have done many others
    • From Magyar’s FB:   ”Our country's energy and water supply is stable. As of today, voluntary consumption reduction is no longer necessary. The turbine at the Paks power plant is generating stably. Thanks to precipitation in Austria, the water level of the Danube will temporarily rise by 20–30 centimeters. Thank you, Hungary, for the unprecedented national unity shown in recent days! We have much to be proud of, and much to carry forward into the period ahead.”
    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
