Smashing pumpkins arent headliners come on! R&L are trying to appeal to a lot of people these days especillay adolescent teenagers a lot of which who dont have matured musical years therefore SP wont headline. A headliner has to have anthems these days, Blink this year have an anthem or 2 and AM have loads. I personally think QOTSA are a good booking but for teenagers they havent heard a thing so was weak.

2014 :

Novelty Artist/Old Schooler ; Blink 182

Anthem Artist : AM

Festival Goer and Music type artist : QOTSA

Predction 2015 :

Novelty Artist/Old Schooler : Stone Roses

Anthem Artist : Coldplay/Mumford/Florence/Killers

Festival goer etc : Radiohead/Strokes

The Strokes have more 'anthems' than all of those 'anthem' artists bar possibly Coldplay

This is going have to be on a few posts so hang on a sec

No one said they were....
People were suggesting that they would play and in the unlikely scenario they do, they would probably sub

What? Loads of people I know have matured music tastes and older bands so that theory is stupid and a few would appreciate an older act and if they are trying to reach out to a wide audience (judging by the line up they aren't) they would have some "matured" acts

A headliner has to have anthems these days, Blink this year have an anthem or 2 and AM have loads.

Cheers for stating the obvious but people wont go and see Blink because they know the "two anthems" and everyone I know, who is going to see them, knows a entire setlist of songs (aka the Greatest Hits) If booking was based on anthems we'd have Macklemore & Ryan Lewis headlining as they have a very popular single (or an anthem).

I personally think QOTSA are a good booking but for teenagers they havent heard a thing so was weak.

Also you are underrating how well know QOTSA are

You can have that one

I thought all the headliners were musical acts unless Blink 182 have decide to become a comedy act where they recite dick jokes through the set and Arctics Monkeys decide the next course of action was to have Alex Turner comb his hair for the set. Also what about Paramore, what category do you class them

That was their response when the press asked them I believe?

Then this rumour website said it was "termoil within the band" but I don't know really.

You believe wrong, and yes you don't know.

The original story was that Blur wanted to do other dates in Australia other than BDO to make the trip worthwhile but the organisers kept pushing back the date that they could announce these dates to try and boost flagging BDO sales, and now Damon is saying that they pulled out as the BDO organisers wouldn't let them celebrate the end of Blur on that tour as they wanted (which could be a different take on to the same issue).

Oh come one 'Kiss with a fist', 'You got the love', 'Dog days are over' 'Spectrum' Shake it Out' and with another album possible before summer 2015 there may be a few more

To the average person though only two of those are widely well known (by average person I mean me :P)

Spectrum has Calvin Harris on it so everyone knows that.

Flo has got quite a lot of really good sing a longs actually. Can't wait for her to headline.

I'd say I'd recognise many of them but couldn't name them if my life depended on it like.

I love her stuff but ive watched a few vids of her live stuff on big stages and she cant really sing to record standard, lots of people cant sing that well live but get away with it but she struggles to

You Got The Love, Dog Days Are Over and Shake It Out defiantly but the only reason I know those songs are because of adverts to be honest and of we were going to do that Two Door Cinema club have loads of anthems therefore as well.

She can/probably will headline but you can't class her as the "anthem" act, more the up and coming act.

    • It's gone past can I afford it, and more is it worth it?   For over half the shows I go to, buy a ticket the week of the show and chance it that it is on tickets or a seat filler.
    • Yep - Richard Tandy was in the band.
    • There was 1 other member of the band present, keyboard player, if I recall correctly.
    • Really!   What are these imaginary criteria?
