Simon and Garfunkel

Just been watching horrible histories and saw a Simon and Garfunkel spoof song. It got me thinking about how good it would be to see them at next years Glastonbury, there is still life in them yet and they have a massive catalogue of well known songs. They would suit the festival perfectly. I don't know if they are on talking terms or not, which could be a problem I suppose.

Paul Simon was there in 2011 and was awful. Not sure he'd be too keen on coming back in any guise. That said, he pretended to have a sore throat on the day so he could blame that and hope Art can still soar high enough to cover up Paul's shortcomings anyway. I'd go to see them but I'd be prepared to walk away if they were as crap as he was on his own.

I agree Paul Simon was shocking. He blamed a poor throat but my gripe was he only did one or two classic songs the rest was new material that no one knew!!!! I thought the idea of the legends slot was to do legendary well known songs!!

Yes its a possibility. Would love to see them on the Pyramid Stage. Sunday 5pm!

Art is currently recovering from a throat operation and playing small gigs to test his voice out and doing well apparently. Apart from storming off stage last week when some dick started playing with his phone in the front row. He hasn't been able to sing properly in a couple of years.

Even more so than Lennon and McCartney, there haven't been two people ever with better suited voices. Add their complicated lifelong friendship into the mix and its a fascinating combo.

Last time they performed (I think) was at the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 and they totally stole the show.

15 minutes of harmonic heaven. Just doesn't get better. Period.

I'm in two minds about this. I'd love to see them live at Glastonbury but don't want my memories of their wonderful songs and harmonies tarnished by a less than perfect performance.

I'd go and see them but would have my bum firmly clenched just in case it didn't live up to my expectations (if you see what I mean).

For what it's worth, he definitely did have a sore throat. I'd seen him the week before in a small venue in Dublin and he was in fine form and voice! (although I remember thinking that he'd need to shake the setlist up for a festival - he didn't! :-( That performance was such a let down)

In his interview afterwards he said something along the lines that he regretted the setlist I think after seeing how the crowd was reacted to Call Me Al.

A year later he did his Graceland anniversary tour... now that was the setlist people wanted to see!!!

(Seen S&G a couple of times - not a patch on Simon on his own when he's on form, but would be a perfect Sunday afternoon in the sun!!!)
