I saw them at the Manchester Arena back in 2003 or 4 and they were excellent- would love to see them at Glastonbury.

They had the Everly Brothers supporting- another double act that ain't exactly seen eye to eye over the years

The Hall of Fame performance is a worldie. Undeniably.

But its also a 20 minute smash and grab on their home town with an über partisan crowd. Fantastic telly, but unfair to use that as the template for Glastonbury.

If they played, they'd headline... and I'd be anywhere but there.

Btw to those that describe other acts as being weak/nice etc, not looking at anyone in particular, j'accuse.

I dunno, I find it hard to dislike them.

I'm just pretty envious of them really. Two best friends from primary school growing up making music they love together, that just happened to be some of the greatest songs of all time. I dont think they were from upper class backgrounds though were they? but they were definitely lucky to have grown up in new york at that time. That place was the centre of the universe then.

What a life they've had. Then I look at mine. Sigh

I can see why people dont like them or their music though

They swing from amazing (America, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.) to ghastly (The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine, Feelin' Groovy) and back again (The Only Living Boy In New York, A Poem on the Underground Wall). And back again (Cecelia) with such regularity that it almost beggars belief. The only other band I can think of with a similarly almost complete sublime / ridiculous ratio is ABBA.

Needless to say, though, in both cases the good stuff more than makes up for the bad. I'd be there in a jiffy, though it ain't happening any time soon, I wouldn't have thought.

IN return for your book recommendations earlier, Wooderson, this is a pretty good read (bit of an overlong magizine article, really, but still worth a look)

I didn't 'Hate Paul Simons set in 2011 but it could have been so much better

Like a few on here I was brought up with Simon And Garfunkel so it would be a dream come true to see them live
