Just popping in to say hello and to give homage to the all forgiving Weather Gods. Went to a festival at the weekend and it pissed it down on the Saturday morning and got fairly muddy in places. One for the team there.

We were sitting on a bench and some bloke next to us stood up, walked a few paces, and then promptly fell on his back into the thick mud. He was so senselessly drunk that he couldn't get up again. Me and the wife (still strange saying that) picked him up and tried asking him where his tent was and said we would carry him back. All we got in return was a maniacal laugh from the bloke. Fortunately at that moment a young woman came over and said that she knew where he was camped as it was right next to her. She then led the way as me and the misses carried the bloke along. He was even worse than a dead weight as he was actually pulling down on our arms. At one point this caused us to crash into a fence. It was at this point we think that my wife cracked a rib (she only experienced the severe pain the next morning and since). It took us about 45 minutes to get this bloke home to his tent through the mud. It was a bastard of an experience. Anyway Weather Gods, you've had your fun, now leave Glastonbury alone. NFR NFC

Thanks carlosj. We went to the doctors today and he said that as she's already on the second strongest pain killer available to him ( she nearly had her left arm amputated about 2 years ago owing to a medical condition) his only other option would be to prescribe morphine but he was loath to do that. So it's a case of put up with it until it mends I'm afraid. As cracked ribs take a while to heal then camping in two weeks time may be awkward for her. Hope not.

Just a quickie - Finbarr!!

Guy started this thread in 4 July last year.

Me, Gingergal and ICGenie posted on that day or the next, others soon after.

Others have fallen sadly by the wayside. Denizens of the Nick Cave thread in some cases, have left us.

But the light of NFR NFC burns brightly - sunlight brightly even, and onwards we go.

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
