I

Although only 3 of those clubs have a record of regular champions league football in recent years and there are several young promising left backs around the world. It may be a gamble for a player to go to man utd who may be on the way down, however others may see it as an equally big gamble joining a side who may be in the champions league for 1 season and then out again.

it's not much of a gamble to take a very promising young player from soton who has already proven himself as more than capable of playing to a high standard in the Prem - their record in producing quality players beats just about every other Prem team (Arsenal excepted of course).

And that's before thinking about the last young left back they produced, and just how much money the buying team made on him.

Shaw will have every better Prem team that needs a better or new left back queuing up to sign him (and perhaps a few overseas too) - which is every team except Newc (and perhaps Newc too?) from what I can see.

Whys that?

No particular reason, just how I think it'll go.

Trivia, Mata has made the requisite number of Premier league appearances in order to be eligible for a winners medal should Chelsea win the title this year. He probably shouldn't accept it though.

He probably should ... it'll be the last medal he'll be seeing for many years.

ps ... anyone see Mata's face at the final whistle?

talking of player's faces ....

Did anyone see Szczesny's face - actually, his eye-brows - after Suarez's superb free-kick at the weekend, which Szczesny brilliantly saved?

I can't post the gif here for some reason, but you can see it here:-

What a goal that would've been!

yup, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a free-kick that was heading so tightly into the corner of the goal ... tho if I have, I can't believe it was a free-kick from as far away as that one was.

Nice respect for it from Szczesny. I hope Suarez gave some back for the fantastic save.

I'm not sure, we know all about shaw because we watch the premiership and exposed to the British media. Go to Spain, Italy, Brazil or France they probably haven't heard of him and have their own Luke shaw. These clubs may like Luke shaw but if they think there is a better prospect abroad they may go elsewhere.

I think abroad is unlikely as its extremely rare for young British players to go overseas. Then if you look at British teams many young British players may feel city and chelsea don't have a great track record of developing British players.

That's not to say he will go to man utd, just they would be high up his priority list. It's also possible that man u have scouted someone abroad that they think is better and will look elsewhere.

oh, I agree that euro teams probably don't have him high on their lists, especially as he'll have a premium price.

My point was that his likely English options go far far wider than Utd - as I've said, every team above them.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
