That's a great guess. C&S are very likely to be and in that slot although I'd possibly book them in the slightly darker slot as 4Music headliner. Deadmau5 as the other is a great shout too. I can very much see Katy Perry being there. But if Bastille can play there at V I can see R&L giving them 3rd.

Generally though it looks woeful overall

I really doubt R&L will offer Bastille 3rd next year. 4th possibly though.

I doubt it but I've heard of worse. I didn't see BBC or The Vaccine getting 3rd spot when they did and Bastille have already got a date at Ally Pally - something The Vaccines hadn't by R&L 12 so who knows. I'd say out of a few that could player higher than expected or thought should be, these are defo one of them.

Are kaiser chiefs still big enough to headline second stage?

Not really to be fair

I guess they don't seem as big to me because none of my friends like them, whereas they all liked Vaccines and Bombay. I was thinking about this year though, Foals, FOB and Deftones are all a lot more seasoned than Bastille, they may not be as popular in the case of Deftones, and possibly Foals, but they haven't really earned the slot like they have. Of course this could mean fuck all in relation to next year :P

I think Bastille might go to V next year though, if they're big enough to do third at R&L, could they headline second stage at V? Then come back and do 3rd at R&L in 2015

As much as I like Bastille I dont think they are a 2nd stage headliner yet, and I cant see them being 3rd at V. Sub second stage maybe but I think they can only get bigger from now

I think Beady Eye are a funny act to determine how big they are. They are most of a hugely requested band to reform, yet the album didnt sell well and when they pulled out of V not too maybe people were too bothered. I would say Bastille have the more current trend on their side opposed to BE having the older fans but I couldnt imagine them headlining 4music at V, maybe headline the Area for now.

Bastille are a good bet for third, like wayiam mentioned the bbc and vaccines did.

If anything bastilles will be bigger than the 2 mentioned and its a big possibility they will be bigger come march time.

This, and with a new album out, it's pretty clear with new material that the youngsters will go crazy for. R&L know that getting them back instead of at V would be great for them and I can see them being a FATM where it was expected by most that V was a cert then it ended up being R&L.

I think they are as big now as The Vaccines were when they did 3rd and BBC who I think announced Ally Pally after their 3rd spot, Bastille already have that show announced, dunno if it's sold out yet mind.

They are bigger than Detones in my opinion, chart success, much more mainstream, many more I feel could name a Bastille song over Deftones. I wouldn't put them past being similarly sized to foals.

It's V Festival, it always looks woeful overall.

true is this

to be fair I think they are bigger than Beady Eye

although I can't really comprehend how BE are big at all

They massively bigger than Beady Eye without question. The only thing going for BE is that the actual band people want to see still have their members around.

    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
