The Music

Sorry, not overly related to Glasto.. but I will make it relevant at the end of post.

So, The Music have been split up for a few years now. I was listening to their last album, strength in numbers. It has left me feeling rather more gutted about these guys disappearing. Love the direction they took with Paul Hartnoll producing.Brilliant balance of dance, guitar and rock vocals.

Any fans here. Went to one of their gigs in Manchester - feared for my life :)

Did they ever play Glasto? Anyone seen them there?

Seen them countless times, up there with the best live acts I've ever seen. Was lucky enough to be at their last ever show in Leeds. Unfortunately they seemed to be managed wrong and never became as big as they should. I believe they played the pyramid one year, and I remember back in the MySpace days Robert harvey Blogging that they where on stand by for if amy Whinehouse didn't show when she subbed jay z. How things may of been different

Rob harvey is now playing with mike skinner in The D.O.T and phil the drummer is playing with Theme Park. The Music are a sad loss to music and the live scene IMO

The Music were my first love when i started going to gigs when i was 16, think I seen them something like 14 times at my last count. To be honest I didn't rate Strength In Numbers nearly as much as their debut album (and EP's preceding that) but it was still decent.

I think they were the perfect example of a band completely nailing it on their debut and not really following it up well enough.

Thats cool, I never realised the drummer played in Theme Park now!

Loved them and still listen to them lots, I went to one of their last gigs at Brixton and it sort of felt like an end of an era to me. Was hoping they would be at Glasto 2011 as this was just before the last gigs but it wasn't to be.

Looking forward I don't actually mind The D.O.T certainly a lot different to The Music. My problem listening to them especially the latest album is Mike Skinners singing. Rob Harvey has a great voice and it seems on a couple of tracks that Skinner tries to compete with that but fails massively.

I would like The D.O.T to be at Glastonbury this year and I'd probably go see them but haven't quite enjoyed them enough to make the effort to go see their own shows. I tweeted Rob Harvey a while back if they were playing but didn't get a reply.

The debut album is in my top 5 albums of all time, maybe even my no1. Always on in my work van.

In fact im sticking it on now.

The last dance cd and dvd was on sale for only a fiver on the concert live website the other week. Absolute bargain

I saw them at a Love Music/Hate Racism gig in Liverpool - a show that was subsequently released as a bonus disc on special editions of Welcome To The North!

Also appearing on the bill were Badly Drawn Boy, Bloc Party, Haven & Rodney P & Skitz.

It was a good night, but we were nearly mugged on the way home.

One of those bands that should have been bigger than they were. Bought their last dance recodings from Concert Live and makes you realise how good they were.

They played Moshulu in Aberdeen on a Sunday night couple of years ago and it was one of the best gigs I've been at. Sad loss

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
