staying awake

I used to start drinking as soon as I woke up, but his is what I find works for me now if I want to stay up late, and it's no what're near as tricky as it sounds:

(1) don't start drinking till around 4/5pm. Ok - have the odd one if you want - but proper drinking has to wait till the evening. What I find helps with this is seeking out things like Glastonbury traditional lemonade, or the smoothies you have to cycle to make, or something Glastonbury daft like that so I don't feel like I'm missing out

(2) again as others have said - spirits not beer. Like you I am a guzzler, so the way I get over this is to mix it so strong that I can't do any more than sip it. This has the combination effect of lasting longer, and being quite 'buzzy'.

(3) red bull in a very specific format. We take 3 each out with us, and we knock 2 of them both back as soon as the headliners finish - I mean knock them back like a chaser - no pissing about sipping at it as you wander. The third then gets mixed with the first spirits of the after hours night out.

Well - this is our method. We can only really do it once because after that we are f@@@ed, but at 50 odd years of age, and illicit drug free, this can keep us out till about 5 am pretty comfortably.

I am probably going to contradict others on here, but I would recommend drinking! Just keep slightly merry all the time, don't get bladdered because that will send you to sleep. And you Wont remember it in the morning. Just drink a pint every hour or two and you will be nicely chilled.

I also think if you want to keep awake, and are enjoying yourself, then you are unlikely to fall asleep.

Keep active, have loads of 'boogies' and I reckon you will still be going at 3am

And don't do too much walking around the site during the day, stay at camp, drinking a pint or two, and venture out early afternoon/early morning for a wander

The other option is to be super fit, but it's probably too late for that now!

Wine gums or jelly babies. Marathon runners eat these an hour before running - full of carbohydrates

Asda tesco or sainsburys do a homebrand pack for around £1 - I take a bag out with me and have a munch every hour or so

I do have a little experience in this field.

If you aren't keen on drugs (amphetamine sulphate, used for decades by party people, soldiers etc to stay awake is probably not an option for you. It is very effective and safe in low doses as has been proved historically) then the best legal(not "Legal High") that I have come across is an Alpine Ski Bum's favourite...The Jaeger Bomb. A Shot or two of Jaegermeister spirit in a can of Red Bull.

DO NOT just chew on lots of caffeine/ProPlus tablets. Nasty.

My farthings worth.

since having 3 kids (1 set of twins included) i'm permanently knackered. Usually by the time I've watched the news headlines at 10pm I'm ready for bed.

The last time i went to a nightclub i actually fell asleep by the time midnight came!

Now I desperately want to enjoy the late night festivities at Glastonbury and am worried that i wont have the energy to keep going.

I'm an alcohol drinker and don't really do drugs so am looking for some (reasonably) safe solutions to keep me going as late as possible e.g. does red bull really give you wings?

any suggestions welcome

I'm a massive coffee drinker usually, but I lay off it for three or four weeks before glasto so that my body is less used to the caffeine. Means that a coffee/red bull/whevs has more effect.

Plus what everyone else said.
