thing is with Alt-J they were booked to headline the NME during all the hype they were getting, and as far as I can tell the hype has died down a fair bit so that might bite them in the back later on before the festival - especially if they don't do something to regain that hype

So far:

Fri - Green day, SOAD, Deftones, Frank Turner

Sat - Eminem, Chase and Status

Sun - Editors, NIN, Biffy

But the only ones I'm dead set on are Frank, NIN, Deftones. Any of the others could be sacrified for decent lockup bands.

The problem with Alt-J is that instead of having worked hype up with consistent and well recieved releases, they put out an under the radar, relatively averagely criticised album. The hype they have is implied by the awards.

Jake Bugg is a talentless hack though, go back to the Sixth Form music night Bugg.

I think Alt-J may be forced to release a new single if they want the hype to continue. Breezeblocks and Tesselate are my favourite songs of their's and theyre both quite boring

Jake Bugg can be alright, its just his hits that are shit. Listen to the ones that didn't quite get the hype that Two Fingers and Lightning Bolt did (like Seen it all and Broken) and you may be very surprised

Oh yeah should contribute. I dunno how clashes work so let's ignore them.

Green Day, SOAD, Deftones, Frank Turner, BMTH, A$AP Rocky, Major Lazer for Friday

Eminem, Chase & Status, Foals, Brand New, Tame Impala for Saturday

Biffy, Nine Inch Nails, Azealia Banks, Disclosure for Sunday

with Tomahawk at some point.

Starting to think I should prioritise Glasto :P

Yeah.... that's not worth paying for. Hoping for some interesting headliners opposite Green Day and Biffy. I'll probably watch the first hour or so of Biffy anyway, but I'd like someone to wander off to if I get bored.

Not worth paying for for you,

if you already like all 3 of them,

And you've already got your value for money if you're into the top 6

If you see all of the acts on the main stage across the weekend,

I'd say it's worth the money if there are about 8ish bands you want to see at the minimum,

Aye, it wasn't directed at you btw, but I've seen a fair few people who like say at least 8 still saying it isn't value for money. It's just taking the piss. Not only on here either, twitter, facebook, couple of my own mates. Just na, give over. Too many people moaning about how better other festivals are then, go to a different one then. All the moaning's just doing my head in!

I think on here, people do go elsewhere, but there's only really 3 festival subforums that get much traffic, so Reading regulars tend to lurk here and moan even if they're not going.

And if it's 8 small bands who are getting short sets it probably isn't. Particularly given the crowd may well not be up for it.

And seriously, why read about people's opinions on the web if you get annoyed by moaning!

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
