thinking about this whole freezing water in bottles idea, do you think if you mixed up something like vodka/rum and coke in a plastic bottle and tried to freeze it that might be a way to take your food and drink in one go? Obviously if theres too much alcohol in it then it shouldnt freeze but if the water content of the mixture is right then you should at least get some sort of slush? hmmmm...any science folk around?

Apologies can't resist a geek challenge! Don't premix coke or other fizzy drink as it'll just go flat, freeze your spirit in the bottles and leave in a tub with cans of coke. To get them ice cold fill the tub with water and pour in a bag of salt, shake for 3 mins. Ready to mix and pour (may want to rinse of salt first!)

First time at Kendal this year. Very excited. Have been to end of the road the last few years, which is great fun but not much late night dance action. What's the vibe at Kendal in the wee small hours?

I got brilliant advise on the Glastonbury threads regards coolbox's

bought a coleman extreme (cost a few bob but worth it)

freeze a dozen or so 500ml bottles and leave in the cool box the couple of days leading up to the fest (this charges the cool box), then the morning of the fest take out and replace with another 12 fresh frozen bottles and fill the rest up with your pre-chilled cans etc. replenish the cans every night

we had freezing cold cans for 5 days at Glastonbury and freezing cold water on the Monday morning.

Fairly good atmosphere, there's 3 or 4 stages that go till around 3am, depending on your tastes you'll have a dance tent, houseparty and chai wallahs which are a mix of djs and live acts either indie or folly. Then you'll have the riot jazz, the clues in the title what they play.

Hi everyone! I only booked my KC tickets last Thursday so have been reading up on it on here for a couple of days. I feel like I know you all so well now that I should introduce myself!

I’m Jen, 34, from Manchester. A festival veteran but a KC virgin. I am just TOO excited! 3 weeks is just too long to wait! Suppose I have New Order at Jodrell Bank on Sunday to keep me going but it pales in comparison to what KC promises to be

Apologies if any of these have been answered before but I just have a couple of quick questions if that’s OK?

Has anyone been to Latitude? It’s my favourite festival so far due to the atmosphere, size and of course music. Would anyone say that Kendal is similar at all? It seems to have a similar ethos and size

Also, how far please (in minutes walking – I have no concept of distances) is the general camp from the car park? Come to think of it, what is the general camp like? I love an all-nighter as much as the next groupie but do need a couple of hours kip at some point. Is that likely? If not, I might have to try and move myself to the quiet zone. I only survived V Fest a couple of years back because I blagged our way into staff camping

Anyway, thanks so much in advance for your advice and answers and hopefully I will see you in the fields! (dressed as batgirl)

Jen

Hiya jen and welcome to the forum, never been to latitude myself so cant comment on it, although kendals got a decent reputation for friendliness and the closeness of the stages plus a wide range of music. From what I remember latitudes pretty big on the comedy side which kendal seems to dabble at without getting bigger names.

As for the size and distances, general camping isnt that far from the car parks so you shouldnt have an issue, the organisers are making better use of the field types this year so you should be able to ask for family, quiet etc when you go in. If you enjoy it then consider grabbing emperors field tickets next year if your gonna go, with those you camp about 100 yards from the cars, across a flat field.

There should be a site layout map coming out soon which will highlight arena enterances, but wherever you camp you shouldnt have more than 5 minutes walk till your at the stages.

i've got a question, is it possible to get there from the KFC roundabout? done this previous years but last year for some reason it was signposted to go down the M6 and get off and come up through shap, what an absolute detour that was.
