Really? That doesn't fit with the many 'Bristol Mafia' stories I've heard thru the years... mind you, I don't have the faintest idea where there's a jot of truth to those rumours.

If you're lucky you'll get just Horace I reckon - tho for him to play with MA is an utter waste.

Could be wrong but Shara Nelson hasnt performed regularly with MA at all. I've seen Liz Frazer with them in the mid-2000s but that was the sole tour she played with them. Its session singers all the way.

I've been going back over the albums these last couple of weeks and have to say that theres stuff on there i'd forgot about and i have fallen in love with again. Some great albums. It's hard to list in order of preference depending on what sort of style you want from them. Though its mixed up on later albums the earlier ones are certainly more soul/ reggae/ trip hop orientated though later they have become more dancier/ ravier. Looking on Utube the last gig that has any footage is the 2010 at the Melt festival. The last Festival set list i can find was from 2010 at the Hot festival in Buenos Aires which is a great set list, i'd be happy with that!

that setlist was from when they were touring behind Heligoland so i assume if they play Glastonbury this year it'll be a bit more of a 'greatest hits' set (if they haven't got a new album out by then… don't think there's one on the horizon is there?) so less Heligoland, more Blue Lines / Mezzanine

ferget about Massive, much MUCH better than them is Horace on tour with Dub Ashante as his backing band.

They don't come any better than Dub Ashante as the band for any reggae artist.... and they normally do a few of their own tracks too, which are excellent.

There's just a Manc date announced so far ... if that's near you, GO!!!

So presuming that Horace is going to be supporting Massive Attack at Glasto, any chance of him and Dub Ashante doing a gig on west Holts?

at a guess I'd say not. ... As far as I can remember Horace hasn't been touring his own stuff at the same time as touring with MA.

I've seen Dub Asante backing both Horace, as well as Johnny Clarke, and they've been fantastic (in comparison, when I've seen Johnny backed by Soothsayers, it's not been half as good)... from googling it looks like they've backed others as well, such as Michael Rose, Michael Prophet. From a bit of googling it looks like they're a sometimes-changing bunch of UK reggae session musicians with a whole bunch of big credits to their names.

I think I might have seen them backing Max Romeo a few years ago.

Though maybe my memory is a bit muddled as I recall Lynval Golding also being there.

What can I say. It was a good night.

I prefer the Massive Attack version of Angel TBH, but i do like Horace on his own although i am not a proffisonado ( ? spelling) of his stuff. My PC in work has crap sound so wil enjoy more at home on another listen! Thanks for posting that.

I've seen Max quite a few times in the last 6 or so years, but as far as I know it's never been Dub Asante that's been backing him.

When I've been certain of it being Dub Asante they've had distinct billing, got introduced by their own name, and also played a few songs before the 'talent' joined them on stage.

for an easy entry to Horace's own stuff, I suggest his album that is called "Massive" ... there's stuff on there any MA fan should recognise, as well as other good stuff.

we've had info from three different sources that they'll be playing.

Two of those sources have a good history with us, so unless something changes to cause them not to play, I'm about as certain as I ever am that the info that they're playing is correct.

while the 3rd source was a new source to us, that 3rd one wasn't rubbish either - because it contained some info we know to be true but we've not said, which gives us a good belief in the things that were said in that email which were new to us.
