Surprised the Holiday Inn had rooms but then I saw the price - £600 for 4 nights! Travel from Genk to the site each day is not a problem as you can get the train but getting back is another matter. I have a friend I met through the festival who lives in Genk so I'll contact her and see what the options are. Pretty sure you'll be looking at a taxi, which if I remember correctly is about 25/30 euros.

Got Jagwar Ma's debut album a couple of nights ago and loving some of the tunes on there. I'm currently listening to Cloud Boats album and have a few badbadnotgood albums I'm waiting to check out too. Should probably stop looking for anymore new music now though as I've got way too much already, it'll only end in tears when the timetable comes out!

Dave - check your PMs in a bit.

Semprini... you are a veteran in pukkelpop... what is your opinion about a new big name for Saturday... the last two years we had a surprise in July (Snoop Dog in 2012 and Kasabian in 2011)... Dave is optimist, but i am not really sure seeing Franz Ferdinand and Triggerfinger so high in the bill...

Does anybody know of any local hotels to stay at during the festival, or even in neighbouring towns that it would be relatively easy to get back to at night?

I love camping but the flight costs shoot up with extra baggage etc (I know hotel will add also, but at least I'd feel the benefit and not the airline company).

Thanks.

Really pleased for PP that they have sold out of combis nearly two months before kick off. I haven't been able to look but I'm willing to bet there's already loads of people crying on Facebook because they've missed out and blaming the festival for the fact they don't have a ticket! It's the same thing every year, even though tickets have been on sale for a few months now and they've also been giving out warnings that they were running low. I do have a very small amount of sympathy though as I still remember the crushing realisation I felt last year when the notice came up that combis were all gone. Tbf there was never any chance of me being able to go but it did feel like the final nail in the coffin!!!

Had a chance to go through youtube whilst doing some desk-based work today and will definitely be checking out Dope D.O.D. and Mala in Cuba. Really need the stage breakdowns now, although they may just release the timetable in one go if the line up is almost complete.

Actually, I've only seen 1 or 2 people doing that so far. Expected it to be more myself, as this happens at literally every big festival.

I expect stage breakdowns to come any moment now, I remember them being available somewhere at the start of Summer in the past. Timetable will be for a couple of weeks later, when they add those final names (mid-end July).

Strange coincidence that they announced the PP combi tickets had gone, within a couple of minutes of the other 2013 festival I'm attending also announcing they'd sold out.

Judging by the lack of activity on the Best Kept Secret thread though, it looks like I'm about the only one on this board who's going this weekend...

Will be slightly disappointed if no mid range names are added to strengthen up the Saturday but even with the great current line up,think my first pukkelpop experience is going to be one to remember.

Quick camping question,I've noticed on photos of the camping area that people have gazebos up,is this still allowed ? Any other camping info would be great if anyone has any.

Thanks

Was maybe thinking 2manydjs would be definitely up for a finishing spot on the last day as they pulled out their soulwax shows?

To anybody travelling from Genk their will be a late night coach running back.

I emailed Pukkelpop and said info will be posted sooner towards the festival...

I'm making my way too and from there!

Getting more and more disappointed by the latest line up announcements this year. They've not addressed Soulwax pulling out yet on the Thursday and the latest additions add nothing to it for me.

C'mon Pukkelpop organisers, throw us a bone!!

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
