i haven't ever met him, but he did come up from wherever it is he lives (Sussex?) to perform pre match for us at FC United (currently residing in Bury) a few years back, at his own expense.

that's a long way to go to read a few poems to a few dozen Mancs. a class act.

Yep, it's Sussex .... Southbourne I think.

He also very kindly came and performed at the Glastonbury World Cup that was done via here at Glasto a few years ago, which didn't work out very well due to dead batteries in the megaphone, but he still tried his hardest, bless him.

I guess he did that for you cos he's got a big love of footie himself - a Brighton & Hove fan - and he's done a number of poems around football over the years. I know there's been one about the old B&H FC owner (I forget his name) who raped the club of its assets. And he did one about Aldershot (my club) when the old club folded about 20 years ago too.
