I prefer The Fureys version.  By chance I was on holiday in France a few years ago and visited the small graveyard with the stone that inspired the original Eric Bogle song.  I didn't make a special trip it was just happenstance that the graveyard was in the village where I was staying.

Lovely documentary footage on the Ghosts of Cable Street.  So a similar approach to LONDON

 

And as a bonus this is my favourite McTell track, The Ferryman, based on the story Siddhartha by Herman Hesse.  I've gone for the original album version because the string arrangements are magnificent.
