To be fair, only one of those two had any chance of doing something, and it was the other booking of Cesaro which was hurting him.

If you book someone right and put Heyman with him, they should be fine.

While heyman is fantastic, I find the idea that he can be great with 100% of the roster mad. Whether its wrestling, tv, film or music. The greatest will not have great chemistry with everyone.

I know that cesaro has a strong online fanbase, but I think he gets a bit of an easy ride. His lack of progress is always attributed to poor booking, rather than any of his own faults. I think his place on the card is about where he should be, not because he is poor, but the strong level of competition.

I agree with Austin, he is very talented but missing something. He can blame the booking forever or look to find that something himself.

It wasn't Austin that said he lacked something. It was Vince. The reason his push stalled was that he spoke out against another Orton vs Cena match and that was it. Before that, he was getting pushed and crowds were reacting.

In all honesty, I think he deserved to get punished for it, but let's call it what it is.

While Vince said it during the interview, Austin has said several times that he likes Cesaro but he is missing something. Im not sure he has worked out what it is, but I think he is right. While he managed to get that swing move over, I think theres only so far a silly move can get you., as the likes of Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty found. I don't think he has ever got the audience (beyond his fanbase) to really buy into his whole character and that to me is his challenge. He can join his fans moaning about how he is being "held down" or do what the likes of Austin and more recently Bray Wyatt did and make sure the fans take notice.

I think being a great wrestler can only get you so far. Theres a huge amount of extremely hungry young talent and the likes of the Shield, Wyatt and Barrett have in my view overtaken him. Criticising WWE established stars is clearly a dumb move, but its not one that will stop Vince pushing someone if he thinks they will make him millions. My instinct is that Cesaro will never become one of the top guys, but nether did Owen Hart, Bulldog or Mr Perfect and they didn't have bad careers!

How was the booking in the main event shit?

I don't like non finishes, think it weakens the talent, especially when its the push for their first title win, what was it some fore arms and 4 powerbombs, on the indie scene you do this strong style all the time, thats part of the appeal, WWE style makes them look weak IMO.

You could tell the finish was coming too, and its clearly just been done so they can play it up on his 'KO' name.

Something like this they'll talk about for ages now that he KO'd him, yet Cena takes 2 million german supplexs from Lesnar. Just weakens the talent IMO, you might not agree.

I thought it was a pretty definitive finish. Owens beat on Zayn until he couldn't continue. That's definitive. It was more than four Powerbombs, as if four Powerbombs isn't enough to do the trick anyways. And you're forgetting the smash of the head on the ramp which is what caused it. I think when you add that to the Powerbombs, you have a decent beating.

It made Owens look like a total monster, because there was absolutely no question he was losing that match. There was no point in that ending where you thought Zayn was coming back, because Owens decimated him. But at the same time, Zayn refused to stay down, kicked out of three or four Powerbombs ( hence why I'm sure it was more than that ), and kept going and going until the referee thought he wasn't going to stop and stopped it himself. Definitive. Both guys come out looking good, with Owens the killer, and Zayn the unbreakable guy who refuses to quit.

Oh. And comparing Zayn with Cena. Not on.

NXT was great again

Balor and Neville stole the show and the women had the second best match of the night.

I did realy like the main event and It does make sense by making Owens look like a beast and Zayn never gave up so I'm sure their paths will cross again but just wasn't a big fan of the finish but that's just my opinion.

Del Rio made his debut in Lucha Underground, couple of digs at WWE in the promo.

Really enjoyed NXT Takeover. As mentioned, the women's match was excellent, really really loved it. Balor vs. Neville was also fantastic. I was looking forward to Corbin vs. Dempsey, but was left disappointed. The main event was good, but again, I expected more. The finish was good enough for what they needed. It made Owens look like a monster.

    • Maybe you need a groovy mayor who can get you the money.   Anyway, looks like mayors going to get a whole load of fiscal devolution and greater powers...so best everyone gets one, a decent one, and get a load of Madchesterism.

    • Another great weekend with family and friends.  We spend most of our time between Obelisk, and second stage due to having young children.  Overpass, Florence Road, Nathan Evans, David Byrne and Alex James were the highlights for me.  Quite enjoyed a dance to Gok Wan on the Saturday too.   Certainly feeling the Latitude blues this week and looking forward to next year.   Also looking forward to all the predictions for next year in the 2027 chat.   Hope everyone had a great festival.
    • How much is Burnham's success down to Manchester getting a shitton of investment for public transport infrastructure?   There's no doubt he did the work, but the money dumped into Manchester for him to achieve that was huge - the most of any infrastructure project outside London ever. Did that need a mayor, or just the money?
