Yeah if you look at their main competition four years isn't anything to worry about.

I completely agree ;)

T - all three headliners have played in the last four years, Calvin every four of those years.

V - The killers headlined two years ago, this is like their 6th time headlining.

Glastonbury - Not any repeats, but a headliner trio that isn't as strong as previous years, (but still pretty strong so we can discount glasto)

Download - Pretty much all repeated from the past few years.

Sonisphere - same too.

There are plenty of repeat bookings this year, which only further proves there was a limited amount of bands reading could choose.

Those festivals do that every year, so it isn't a reflection on the acts available at all, really.

Are you not a WARRIOR?

I have liked them before but now I see how crap they can be. They've gone the same way as many of the big electronica acts this millennium.

I've just realised how much Louis van Gaal looks like an old Josh Homme. He's the face of Desert Sessions 11 & 12.

What are you talking about in terms of the way big electronica acts have gone? I genuinely have no clue what you're talking about.

I don't actually dislike The Prodigy, I enjoy a fair few of their songs, but I find their live show cringeworthy and don't think they've managed to evolve at all.

If Depeche Mode didn't wanna do glasto, they wouldn't wait till august for R&L

I think everyone else realised, but I was referencing the "If The Cure can headline why not..." arguments that went around here for ages. I don't think it could have been a possibility in the slightest.

Was kinda vague. I just meant the big decent ones of the 90's have either disappeared or dumbed their music down to complete shit - The Prodigy falling into the latter.

I still like Chemical Brothers. Depending on "big" Aphex Twin? Boards of Canada?

I dunno, was just thinking of the ones that were headlining festivals and stuff. I'd put those into the ones that have sorta disappeared as Chem Bros only seem to do DJ sets now and even if Aphex Twin and BoC were ever big, they certainly disappeared. I think we're digressing now though.

Well it's not a big surprise that lots of bands formed 20 years ago have split-up/reduced output or left public focus.

    • Pretty sure at the stage we can expect the charge for Man City will be a 10 point deduction for..... Everton
    • Ah those were the days....! When you could go to the festival and nearly drown.
    • It's only the last few years that the festival have started calling it the Legend Slot.  For most of its existence it's been the Teatime Slot, with the idea it was the sort of music that Jean Eavis liked to listen to whilst having tea on a Sunday afternoon i.e. MOR, Radio 2, borderline easy listening sort of music.  Hence bookings like Shirley Bassey, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, etc.  There's mibbe some overlap there with classic radio rock and of course the boundaries are all pretty fuzzy now, but it's generally not a rock slot.
    • I've never had any issues. Remember watching some Tour De France stages on phones in the past. Maybe at the festival sight it could be a problem, but I think people are spread out enough on camping.    Maybe it will be different this year with only teenage girls coming to see The Cure, David Byrne and Napalm Death 😅
    • They'll surely put AdP on Woods. They are aware of the off the scale level of hype.
