Saw Rancid at Rock City last night, would absolutely love them to be back at R+L this year!

I think the issue with Rancid is they're probably too big/expensive to headline Lock Up, but don't have the widespread appeal that their fee on Main/NME would warrant; although there is a minority that ask for Rancid year on year that definitely is a minority, so I think unless Lock Up really blow out on them one year it won't happen.

To be fair to it, Silent Alarm is a fantastic album; not as fantastic as Funeral, but still pretty great.

So don't worry about that list and look elsewhere, though there are a few crackers on it - Illinoise, Silent Alarm, Funeral, Demon Days, Field Music, I'm Wide Awake...

Missing, although not surprising with it being the NME:

With Teeth, Road to Rouen, Z, Twin Cinema, Broken Social Scene, Picaresque, Unholy, In Case We Die, Takk, Set Yourself on Fire, Alligator, Deadwing, The Campfire Headphase.

Not that bad a year. There's some absolute stormers released that year.

Yeah, it was the year I started getting into music so I'll always have a soft spot for it, and still nothing's topped Silent Alarm for me. Also, normally I think the NME gets an unfair amount of stick but you are completely right that Alligator should be somewhere in the upper echelons of that list, remarkable album.

one question for people. how likely is it that a band would sub at R&L only accept a headline slot at IOW? Taking The Prodigy out of this equation, they are a fest known for giving a dance/rap act a headline spot and The Prodigy fit that bill.

strange enough I don't have one. after looking though and reading something from John Giddings, I'm going to say and stick to it. If Mumford & Sons play, they headline.
