Great reading this thread.

And to the person that mentioned Coldplay being average, I'm on your side bruthhaa!! Haha. Parachutes was a great album, but since then they really have become a pretentious bunch of bellchoppers. Maybe just Chris Martin, but as he's the face of the band I am indeed tarring the whole band/brand with the same brush.

Squire did seem kind of embarrassed in the conference, like has been said maybe as if he didn't want to be there. Thinking to himself "What the hell has just happened, I'm sat in a room in front of the british music press going back on my word in a BIG way..."

What also makes the whole thing seem a little uncomfortable is that a major theme of Brown's last album was very much "Sod The Roses, sod Squire, I made it on my own, etc"

So reservations about the intentions behind the reuinion are completely warranted. That said, we're here for a good time, not a long time, so let's make the most of the gigs, and thank our stars that it's even happening at all.

One Love.

to be fair, the official reviews are that Ian is still indeed as shit as he ever was and some Youtube footage supports this. However, when you've got 75000 people singing your songs for you, it doesnt matter. These concerts are for the reliving of youth and I for one can't wait to see them at V, shit singing or not!

I wasnt a fan back in the day. But the first album especially grew and grew on me. Went on the Friday and the Sunday to heaton park and they were two of the best (if not the best) outdoor gigs I have ever seen...and having been going to festivals since 1989 thats going some. Yeah there's a lull mid set but the quality of the last 45 mins is astounding. Yeah Ian's voice waivers at times - most singers do (I mean you Bob Dylan!) - but its probably better than its ever been and in Mani, John and Reni you have 3 incredibly talented musicians and when they go for it on the extended Fools Gold and Resurection - holy crap. You'll never see anyone do anything like it!

I cannot wait to see them again. By all accounts they are getting better as the summer goes on.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
