Top 3, Worse 3

Best

Pulp - Brilliant, Jarvis is an incredible frontman, got everyone into the set even those who just knew Disco 2000 and Common People.

Muse - Great spectacle.

White Lies - Never really listened to them, but they blew me away along with carrying on the great atmosphere.

(Honourable mention for the Saturday night in the NME in general, Noah and the whale were superb, and I was in two minds for Beady Eye but they were very good I thought, Liam Gallagher's singing has improved and doesn't seem as arrogant (Relative to how he was before.)

Worst

Jimmy Eat World - While musically it was sound, they just seemed very bored and it made for a poor live act.

Best

- Pulp - Reading at it's best (need to get more golden oldies like Depeche Mode, Neil Young, The Cure, etc bands who know how to perform)

- Frank Turner (Lock Up) - Where he belongs, as he said

- MCR (and Panic!) both sticking 2 fat fingers up at the 2006 "boo boys" - guess who's laughing now?

Honourable Mention: Off! If you didn't like a song then at least you knew it would finish in the next 30 seconds!

Worst

- 30STM - unfortunate to be on the list because I didn't mean to see them, but they were so bad it was almost fun

- DFA - Just a personal thing, but I couldn't hack it

- Warpaint - Dull as dishwater

3 Faves:

- Pulp - Just fantastic and I was one of the ancient gits who saw them in 94!

- Muse - the expected fantastic show

- Seasick Steve for being great

- Frank Turner for making us sit down in the mud

I know it was 4 but I got a bit over excited.

Worst

Cutting hand during the offspring and spendin the next two hours getting stiched up and missing Noah and the Whale

BEST

1) Muse

One of my favourite bands playing one of my favourite albums in full with a 3D set up of the album artwork and images of the artwork on screen. End of story.

2) OFWGKTA

This was just pure madness and mental atmosphere throughout the whole set. Not at their best I have to admit, but the crowd made it, never seen anything like it before.

3) Elbow

Beautiful, Guy really knows how to get the crowd going, united everyone together. Every person singing their hearts to One Day Like This was incredible.

WORST

1) New Found Glory

I thought give them a chance, but they really weren't with it, probably had too much to drink. Don't know what happened there.

2) Interpol

I think their music is brilliant, but seriously, no interaction with the crowd, atmosphere was dull (bar the very few hardcore fans), came on, played, no effort, off they go.

3) Jimmy Eat World

This was more of a let down than an actual bad set. I used to listen to them a lot during my childhood, but looks like they have destroyed it. Like Interpol, felt they were dull and no effort put in at all. Only thing that saved them was The Middle and Sweetness.

Top 3:

Muse - Origin in full, amazing. Not even Starlight or Undisclosed Desires could bring me down.

MCR - Really not a great fan of these but I was totally blown away. Really amazing.

Pulp - Jarvis is a legend.

Also an honorable mention for Metronomy, who I have seen at pretty much every festival this year plus a few gigs to boot, but they still managed to be even better than the last time.

I don't really have a worst three, and I didn't see any of the worst bands mentioned so it seems I have successfully avoided them all. Elbow were a bit boring but that was about it.

My Best Three - Only went to the friday at Leeds, but seems I didn't miss too much.

1) Muse - Same as everyone else, my favourite band, first time I'd seen them. Just sounded amazing!

2) Elbow - Just a great great atmosphere

3) Frank Turner - Really great set. Sounded great too!

Worst

1) The Cure - Sounded terrible, couldn't understand what they said and I was really f*cking wet

2) Warpaint - Got bored after 5 minutes.

Top 3

1) Bring Me The Horizon - Had my doubts about this band but they tore the main stage apart

2) Crystal Castles - As usual a mental atmosphere and performance

3) Pulp - Perfect way to end the festival

Worst 3

1) Glassjaw - Never got going, worst setlist I've ever heard too

2) 30 Seconds To Mars - Cannot stand Jared Leto anymore

3) Muse - Found these boring, the show itself was decent but way too much hype leading up

Top 3

1. Flogging Molly - so much energy, great setlist, perfect way to end the festival. So pissed of that i dropped their setlist though!

2. The Offspring - sound quality wasn't brilliant but such a good band and it was pretty much a greatest hit setlist, great sing a longs.

3. Hot Water Music - not massively into these but thought they were fantastic and their cover of Bouncing Souls - True Believers blew my mind.

Worst 3

1. Your Demise - had a f**king massive crowd and I've heard a lot of good things about them but I really don't get the hype, they sounded shit.

2. Jimmy Eat World - was looking forward to these so much but I thought they seemed so uninterested and their setlist was shit, wish I'd gone to see leftover crack or Lee nelson now.

3. Foster The People - boring.

Also an honourable mention to MCR who gave the middle finger to all the haters and doubters, was epic.

Top 3 -

Enter Shikari - Just an amazing live band

My Chemical Romance - Really enjoyed their headline set

Deftones - Good Set, Good Sound, Crowd enjoyed it were i was

Worse 3 -

30 Seconds To Mars - Making the crowd sing most of the song isnt the best idea at a festival

Glassjaw - Crap setlist and was next to a group chanting for Bombay Bicycle Club during every song

Rise Against - The sound ruined their set for me

I'm gonna defeat the object of top 3 and do a top 5

Top:

1: Frank Turner - He's amazing, he comes number one due to his pure amazing set on the lockup! Sublime!

Loved:

Muse:- i'm not a huge muse fan but i love origin of symmetry and i thought they nailed it, they played everything perfectly, had a great live show with strobes, lasers, flames, smoke, massive inflatable eyes and fireworks. Best band of the weekend for me

Warpaint:- second time of seeing them and they were great, they are such a good live band and their musical relationship is amazing- they have such great jam outros and everything they do weaves intricately together. From this performance they've managed to turn 2 of my mates into diehard fans after never listening to them before and hating the idea of an all girl band. One of my favourite bands and that's unusual considering i don't like most current music

Seasick steve:- saw him play a song at the Foo Fighters show in milton keynes and i'm so pleased i had the chance to see a longer set. I don't see how anyone can dislike him, he's incredible and such a down to earth person. Also great to see John Paul Jones on bass and mandolin and the drummer was solid

(Jane's addiction would have been here if not for illness, my favourite band from the lineup)

Worst:

Interpol:- i'd never really listened to them before and i certainly won't persue them. All their songs sounded to similar to me, they had no stage presence and had zero crowd interaction- boring.

The strokes:- i'm a big fan of their albums but they confirmed what i've seen on tv and internet of them live- not very interesting.

Don't really have a third

Loved:

Tom Vek - sounding impressivly tight and new album might be decent after all.

Muse - Wasn't expecting to be impressed but they really put on a show. Top stuff.

Grouplove - Very pretty tunes.

Disliked:

The Kills - getting really boring and formulaic.

Yuck - Just not great.

The Strokes - dull. sound better on record than live.

Scared of

Cerebral Ballzy - These guys are nuts!

3 Worst

The strokes - dull and uninspring

Enter Shikari

Top 3

Muse - because they could've played purely hits and the decision to play OOS in full was a f**king good one

Pulp - Bloody brilliant. And This Is Hardcore was awesome

Madness - Been wanting to see them for ages. They got everyone dancing, even those who only knew the obvious ones. Plus a conga line ended up in a circle pit along with a bunch of crowd surfers who ended up there too which was eventful to say the least

Worst 3

The Strokes - Seriously disappointed me. I don't like the new stuff anyway but they were incredibly boring

Two Door Cinema Club - their songs are all a bit samey plus I could barely hear them where I was stood

Taking Back Sunday - I used to listen to them a few years ago but they were really boring

(Before seeing them, I probably would've put MCR here but despite me not being a massive fan, they were surprisingly good.)

Top 3:

MUSE - Just incredible. Top crowd, top atmosphere and top performance. I was grinning like a cheshire cat afterwards. Probably the best time that i've seen them, OoS at the start was immense!

CRYSTAL CASTLES - Really good! Hadn't seen them before but they really impressed me, the atmosphere in the NME tent was top notch.

BMTH - I had my doubts at first, but in my opinion i though they nailed it. Biggest surprise of the weekend for me.

Elbow, Bombay Bicycle Club, PABH, Cage The Elephant and OFWGKTA were also sensational. MCR were great as well, i only saw the first half of their set but what i saw was really good.

Worst 3:

THE STROKES - Disappointing. Was expecting a lot more, the atmosphere was completely flat and their onstage presence baffled me. They looked like they didn't want to be there. Pretty dull.

The Strokes were the only ones that stood out as being the 'worst' for me. Apart from that, i thought it was a great weekend once again. Really enjoyed it! :D

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
