I said at the time I would've had no issue with Rooney being sold after that. But he didn't refuse to play in the biggest game in the clubs history, then piss off for 6 months and kick up a stink when he denied his wages.

Refusing to play is one thing. Negotiating a contract is one thing. Threatening to leave is one thing. But going AWOL on 250k a week when you're captain of the club, talking trash about the manager and club in the process, getting your lawyers in the reclaim some of the wages you haven't been paid during that time and then coming back and acting as if nothing happened?!

In some ways looking beyond the first 11 you could argue that spurs squad is worse because they had a purge of squad players pre season. Its amazing at the start of the season some were making claims that spurs had one of the strongest squads in the league. Arry has pretty much played the same team every game and I suspect they are probably tired. if ever there was a team who needed to strengthen preseason it was them but maybe the moneys not there.

Adebayors goals have dried up like they often do and they are now struggling to beat mid table sides and not just the better ones

Not sure why football fans have decided to become the moral guardians of a nation anyway. Yes these rich young men are bound to have their fair share of the bellend gene at times, but for the most part they are hardly evil anyway just walking talking PR disasters. Yeah it's nice when they turn out to be top blokes as well but that's just a bonus. Ryan Giggs turns out to be one who might be a complete arsehole, but it doesn't really detract from the fact he's been a fantastic footballer for the best part of two decades. Regardless, we aren't canonising them, we're just asking them to go kick around an inflated lump of leather for 90 minutes a week.

Tevez is worse but both are bad in my opinion and therefore if a fan is willing to idolise rooney they should have no problem with Man City fans if they choose to do the same. Its fine to negotiate a contract and should be done behind closed doors with the acceptance that you werent forced to sign your original contract and should get on with your job, rather than disrupt a team. The increase in Rooneys wages could be used to reduce fans ticket prices or subsidise away travel for fans. In my opinion what rooney did was the action of a scumbag and what tevez did was the action of a scumbag. Because Rooney is slightly lower in the scumbag table doesnt justify his behaviuor or mean its ok for man u fans to forgive rooney but not man city to forgive tevez.

But Rooney didn't piss off for 6 months and then tried to claim all his wages in that time.

I suspect the details weren't actually that much different (tho for a shorter time) if they were ever to become known.

Remember, he had a manager who was claiming he was injured when he wasn't, which was being used to hide what was going on behind the scenes.

Im probably going to get shot down here as he is a very popular player but Im not as convinced by Scott Parker. I can see why he is popular, he is a nice guy, who tries hard and runs around a lot. In that way he is a very "english" type player and always in the running for sky mom. However I sometimes wonder if all this disguises the fact that there isnt always an end product to go along with all the effort thats put in. I cant remeber who played there last season, but when I have seen them this season the midfield unit hasnt looked significantly more effective to me

I suppose the question I always ask is if he fell out with the people at spurs where would he end up. I cant think any bigger team than spurs would even consider going for him. I think he is a solid premiership player but Im not convinced he has the talent for a side with top 4 aspirations.

Everything except what he does on the pitch is a mistake!

And even on the pitch at times hes been a total moron. Although he seems to have calmed down recently. Seems more mature.

Anyway, to talk about football - really hope Essiens form is just him getting back from injury. He was shocking last night. I just hope two series knee injuries haven't wrecked his career. :( Cracking player.

True dat.

His injuries have been real blows to Chelski. If he'd stayed fit during all the time he'd be injured I reckon their trophy cabinet would be rather fuller and their manager list somewhat shorter. I still hope he takes his time returning to form before doing so though. Want them to finish below us, but for them not to be inclined to try and take Tiote.

Well thats debatable but it was dealt with much better internally alright yeah. I think Rooney was injured though. Heres the pic from training that week - doesn't look fully fit to me!

_49571137_rooneyinjury226.jpg

you see players like that in every game, and a minute later they're running around like nothing happened. That pic proves nothing.

And anyway, the 'not fit' thing went on over several weeks, with Rooney making sure that the word got out that he was fit - either version could be true, but what is certain is that someone was trying to undermine the position of power of the other (and it was very likely some of that from both sides).

Sure, the club might have handled it better than shitty managed, but they're different clubs with different power-plays within them. It's hardly Mancini's fault that he's only been at shitty for ten minutes compared to fergie's lifetime at Utd, or that the money situation at shitty gives more power to the players. But one thing you can be sure about is this: if fergie was in as weak a position as Mancini is at shitty (which he was when he started at Utd, don't forget) then things would have played out in a different way to how they did.

So it's not really anything about good management at Utd, it's merely the luck of the situation that exists there.

Rooneys "lines" were hand fed from his greedy agents ("club lacks ambition" etc  )

and of course nothing about what Tevez is doing is due to the strings his no-money agent is pulling.

In both cases it's agents looking at the money they'd make from a transfer - a huge amount more than they get by a player remaining at a club.

He works harder than Huddlestone but in terms of improving the side Im not sure I have seen it. I think spurs are performing pretty much exactly the same as they did last season and have just looked better because other sides have got worse. The spurs midfield have looked no better or nor worse and modric has looked no better or no worse.

I personally find it a bit embarassing how the likes of sky build up parker. As I have said he is a nice guy but a player of that type and ability level wouldnt get close to the same loving in any other major european league. Dont get me wrong I appreciate that type of player but parker is no makalele.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
