Opta stat that Suarez has still won the most fouls of any player in the prem since he's arrived. 68.

It's a bit of both really from what I've seen, and similar to Ronaldo/Nani. He (and they) dive occasionally, but more so emphasise challenges which is pretty much what riles up opposition, fans, refs. When the softest contact sends them flying arms outstretched. Part of it's probably a cultural thing. In England, the hard crunching tackle and cynical foul is savoured, yet diving condoned. Other way around in Latin countries.

I think Kenny will be concerned of the reputation he's getting though. Reading Redcafe earlier, and they seem to think the ref could be heard last night to say "Stay on your feet, don't go down". The racism charge/flicking the finger doesn't help that reputation either.

Not so good stat for Suarez.

Of all players to have scored three or more PL goals this season, Luis Suárez has the lowest shot conversion rate (7.7%).

and 17 - Liverpool's tally of 17 goals is the third lowest in their Premier League history after 14 matches (15 - 2006/07 & 16 - 2010/11). Only 4 points ahead of where Hogdson was last year at this amount of games too.

I assume you mean condemned :P

I'm not sure Suarez's poor conversion rate is an issue yet. He's proven that he can score goals, and he brings a hell of a lot to the team. He also seems to have 2 defenders on him most of the time, and thus is more likely to get shots blocked etc. Give him a half-decent partner and he'll start flying.

Red Nev made a good point about Reina punching the ball instead of catching it just before the goal. Spanish keepers have a tendency to do that. The real greats don’t though. You wouldn’t see VDS or Buffon punching a ball they could catch.

You're wrong. Great passing (misplaced one all night I think), good movement. Quiet but effective at the moment, but with a bit of confidence inside he's gonna be worth his fee easily. Watch the lad closely, got a lot of technique. Bit of a scapegoat bizarrely for some, but he's going to be a very important player in a couple of years time.

I said this about Lucas too and people laughed. Lucas didn't start as well as Henderson either. Really pleased with him. Carroll's obviously an odd one, Downing is hit and miss. Very pleased with Coates, Henderson, Bellamy, Adam and Enrique though.

Im not making henderson a liverpool scapegoat, he never stood out for me at sunderland either. Osman is quiet and effective as well but thats his level. i dont see henderson ever being an important player but time will tell.

Remember reading that a lower league player (Unsure who. Swear the team played in blue though.) got a six match ban, reduced two games for it a season or two back. His was clear-cut racism too, none of this semantics crap. However, they'll make an example of Suarez because the FA are a little bit joined up.

Not that he should though. It was foolish to use 'negrito' (if this is indeed the case) due to its similarities with words such as N****r, but upon any reasonable analysis it clearly isn't the same or crucially meant in the same way. Chicarito and others have used the word. If he'd have used the second word (the anagram of ginger) then there's no defence, but a slap on the wrist should do for this.

I think you may be a little confused, tho it might be I'm short of the correct info.

As far as I'm aware there's only been one instance of proven racism between players in professional English football, which was a lower league player. He admitted the charge, and got a three match ban.

And on the basis of that, and Suarez not admitting the charge, it's presumed that if Suarez was found guilty that he'd get a 6 match ban.

Don't get how the punishment is any different if he doesn't admit it though.

I guess they work it on the basis that the rules are clear, and that an offender should 'man up' and admit their wrongdoing.

Suarez is probably denying it as he thinks he hasn't used a racist term.

yup, but just cos someone doesn't think they've been racist it doesn't mean that they haven't. Most people - me included - have difficulty recognising what is and isn't racist at times, as countless things get to show.

If you deny any other FA charge it doesn't mean your ban would be doubled.

That's not quite true.

For example, if a person appeals against a card and that appeal is deemed 'frivolous' then their ban can be increased.

It's hard to look at the Suarez case in isolation without looking at terry. The fa will look hypocritical if after making such a huge deal about racism in England matches they don't take it serious. I think they will want to find 1 guilty so look for the england captain to get off.

Yup, that idea has occurred to me too, particularly with Terry having played for England last month. The sad thing about it is that it's not an idea that can put to bed if things do pan out that way.

It's also somewhat strange and unfortunate how the Terry case is with the police and the CPS while the Suarez one isn't. I can't see how the FA could pursue a case against Terry if the CPS decide not to prosecute, while Suarez could be found guilty by the FA on far weaker evidence than might exist for Terry as they''re different processes with a different level of proof required.
