BBC Breaking News: Man Utd footballer Rio Ferdinand loses High Court privacy action over 'kiss and tell' story.

For fucks sake..... another one?!

So it'll all come out now. The bitch sold her story for £16,000.

hey, footballers and their not-divorcing-him wives are money-grubbing low-lifes, so why shouldn't the women they shag also be?

I see that Rangers are making noises about heading south again. But before they can get that far they first have to survive bankruptcy, which looks like being a near-run thing as everything points to them losing their case with HMRC.

But anyway, McCoist says "Television would have a big say in it". I'm sure it would - but very probably not in the way he's thinking. I'm not sure that anyone in England cares if Rangers are part of the Prem or not, and I'd have thought that pans out around the world too.

I would love to see Celtic and Rangers in the Prem. With the crowds they get, the extra television money and the abality to attract the players with the extra money they would both do well in the prem I reckon. As it stands they would both struggle in the Championship!!

I can't see how it'd bring much in the way of extra TV money, and I don't see how they'd make the Prem any more attractive to players than it already is.

Remember, them joining would displace someone else. So if they displaced (say) Wigan from the Prem, they'd also push (say) Sunderland down a position, which would make Sunderland and everyone below them less attractive to players by the same amount that the likes of Rangers would improve that attraction.

And as far as TV money goes, I'd have thought that just about anyone with an interest in Prem footie north of the border and who is prepared to pay already has Sky, tho perhaps I'm wrong about that. But if I'm wrong, the extra numbers won't be huge from a country with a small population.

oh, I'm sure they'll all find loopholes to exploit, but it'll probably stop the bottomless pits of money that exists currently for the likes of City. So it'll reign thing in a little, and so any money they get from Tevez will be important.

I agree, I hope the rules as they are fail because that'll simply remove competition, and cement the current big teams in place forever. But I'm in general agreement with the idea of clubs not being loaded with debts they have no chance of paying off.

The middle ground between those would allow a sugar-daddy to take a club upwards as long as the club wasn't laden with debts by doing that - so the sugar daddy has to make a gift and not a loan.

I do get annoyed when fans of the big teams support financial fair play acting like they have the footballing familes best interest at heart. Those same fans seem happy that their club has progressed with heavy spending yet seem less happy for others to be able to bridge the gap in the same way, how strange!

yup.

It's particularly noticeable with Utd fans right now, I wonder what it is they fear.:lol:

It was a c**tish thing to do yes. Its exceptionally poor, no doubts, and Scholes admits that. However, it was a one off with Scholes. Tevez does this shit at every single club hes at. Everyone saw something like this coming. Scholes wasn’t disruptive on such a consistent basis.

Eh? At what other club has he done anything like this?

The most he's guilty of previously that I'm aware of is being up-front and honest in public about his intentions and wants, but that's not necessarily something that makes him 'bad' or 'wrong'.

After all, it's surely an approach of more integrity than the likes of Rooney who kisses the badge while trying to engineer himself a move to another club, or any of the other players we know of who have professed their love for a club while trying to get their dream move.

I'm not particularly trying to stick up for Tevez - he's not someone who appeals to me from the little I know of him. But similarly, (keeping it topical) the likes of Rio makes me sick, by thinking he has a right to mislead the public into thinking "what a nice family man" while he's dipping his dick where ever he can.

I'm simply trying to keep a bit of perspective.

I didn't mean they would bring in extra money but with the extra money they would receive from being in the Premier League would make them able to compete with others in the league. The both already get bigger crowds then the majority of the prem. Celtic get around 60k a game. So with the extra Sky money, their massive fan base, the ability to attract better players by being in the Prem would make them a dangerous opponent for most in the Premier League.

the numbers in the ground are almost worthless in income terms nowadays for Prem clubs. It would of course give them greater crowd income than the likes of Wigan get, but that actually translates into very little that can be done with a team over the likes of Wigan.

And if the TV subscriptions didn't increase very much - and I don't think they would do - then there's actually almost no extra money brought into the Prem, and so no ability overall for better players to be brought into the Prem.

All it would do is displace one team with another for the Prem, but it would also weaken the lower English leagues, and completely destroy Scottish football.

So I don't see how they'd bring anything apart from an excuse for Scottish/English rivalry.

It seems to me that Rangers and Celtic want to move because they don't find Scottish football competitive enough for them - but that's their own doing, by sucking all the money onto their own clubs and leaving the others to dwindle .. and the Prem is slowly moving things in that same direction. How long before the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea are saying that the Prem doesn't give them enough decent competition and that they need a Euro Super League?

The answer to that, most recently, was this week, from the mouth of Fergie - the Chumps is the best competition in the world apparently, better than the world cup.

So you have to ask yourself why it was that when two of Europe's bigger teams squared up in Spain this week for one of the best Euro matches I've seen for a while, the stadium was only around a quarter full. ;)

None of these things are about football, none of these things are about competition. It's merely about self-importance, and trying to fleece everyone for as much money as they possibly can.

I'm speaking specifically about Tevez refusing to play for City

just as I'm speaking specifically about Scoles refusing to play.

If Tevez refusing to play makes him and his club classless as you said, then the same applies with Scholes.

The rest of what I said was simply to give some perspective to the honesty that Tevez displays but which loses him the respect of some, against the lies that other players give over the same or similar things which doesn't similarly lose them respect of the same amount.

I think you are misunderstanding what I'm saying. The premier league wouldn't be any better off. What I'm saying is that Rangers and Celtic would get more money from Sky from being in the EPL than being in the SPL therefore giving them the funds to be able to attract better players.

The only reason they want to join the EPL is the extra money they would get. I don't think it being more competitive really matters to them. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't the TV money in Scotland dropped massively since Setanta deal went tits up?

Oh, I know why they want to do it - selfish reasons.

What I was getting at is whether they're actually wanted in the Prem. I don't believe that they are, from any angle including the money one that McCoist thinks will sooner or later swing it for them.

There's of course some individuals who might want them, but I don't believe they number enough, either right now or long long into the future.

Except I didnt say that though. I meant Tevez is classless in general, and this is just another example of that. A final straw. I thought Tevez was a classless c**t before he refused to play. Scholes can be forgiven for his one mistake as he was a model pro throughout his career, apart from that one time.....

..........oh, and all the sendings off!

But Tevez's lies and disruptions are all football based, ear cupping Utd fans (directed at Fergie), pissing off for weeks at a time, going AWOL, lying about seeing his family, missing training etc.

but most of the reason that people might think him classless is because he says things with an honesty that other players don't.

I'd say the liars have far less class.

I think you may have forgotten what a disruption he is Neil.

no, not at all. He is what he is.

But he still displays an honesty that other players don't. They're just as much of a disruption thru their underhand ways as the likes of Tevez is via his honesty.

For example, there's a certain player who it could be reasonably said lost Utd a Chumps league final thru his own disruptionary tactics even if it wasn't his intention to do so.

There's a few teams that have started trying to get Tevev on loan now, West Ham, Juve, Inter, PSG and Limavady. I would love to see what happenes if he plays in the Irish league, they are still waiting on Man City's reply to their official request.

    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
    • Not at all impressed with Polanski saying "noone should be barred from public life" wrt the Tory neo-nazi. I really don't think "no nazis in politics" should be an excessive standard.
    • Dug into Milkweed some more and this was a brilliant suggestion. Thank you 🙂   This will come as no surprise, but I have been told that there are some band substitutions to come.
    • Yeah, I think it's important to differentiate between a stage that's just a platform for the artist to walk on (which can be assembled fairly quickly and without too much difficulty), and the custom staging that you get in big productions where there's a whole world underneath.   Using the Eras tour as an example the stage extending out into the stadium field has all sorts - lifts that go up or down - down most importantly as this allows performers to enter or to leave the stage as needed. There's passageways to get from one part of the stage to another. There's what are effectively dressing rooms set aside for costume changes. There's spare instruments (and techs to look after them) so if something goes wrong above they can be swapped out in the space of seconds. There's even a track and dolly system running the full length of the stage so that Taylor can be moved from one end to the other faster than she'd be able to walk.   I don't know the specifics of the Madonna tour to the same degree but my understanding is that a lot of the same techniques are used.
