Arctic Monkeys?

i've just been listening to suck it and see and it's brilliant! i know they played in 2009 but do you think they could play because last time they were touring humbug so its not like its the same tour and they're playing everywhere else? i personally would love the headliners to be Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Foo Fighters

Too soon aince they last played and their performance last time seems to have gone down as one of the worst headline sets in the festival's history.

Hopefully they'll have grown up a bit and realised it was their own fault it was a shit show. Though at T last weekend I thought they were brilliant, maybe it's cos I was comparing them to Leeds so it seemed better but really enjoyed the set. They've also played some really well received sets in the past so I don't think they'd write it off completely. That said, it's still too soon really.

Ironically I think Humbug is the best album they've done. I think if it had been out a while before Leeds 2009 I'd have appreciated their set a bit more.

I wouldn't mind them being back, as I think the new album's possibly the best thing they've done, and they were excellent in Sheffield last month.

However, I can see why they'd have slightly less fond memories of the festival after 09, as they were poor, and as a result, so were the crowd. It's all a bit irrelevant though, as even if they'd gone down an absolute storm last time, 3 years isn't long between headline slots. They've gone down incredibly well twice before (particularly in 05,) so I wouldn't be that surprised if they end up playing again whenever their next album's out.

were shite at T, my worst band of the weekend (along with mona), may have been down to the bad sound, but there just isnt anything about them as a live band, no crowd interraction, no movement, they are the same as KOL when it come to live shows, boring, lifeless and crap.

They were amazing at T. The sound could have been better, but I thought the performance as a whole was pretty great.

Putting them on after The Prodigy was a terrible decision. A bad year for the Reading headliners,

They played a poor set list in 2009 which was too heavily reliant on a mediocre album which no-one knew as it had only been out for a few days, which was pretty arrogant of them in my opinion. Obviously this was a bit of a downer after The Prodigy, and there is no doubt they were poor that year.

But the new album is great, and they seem to have re-discovered their live form and are happy to play some of the old classics they previously dropped eg Mardy Bum, Certain Romance. I would be happy to see them back at Reading at some point, but would have thought next year would be too soon.

I agree, I thought it was a great announcement but when it came to the weekend I sacked KOL for FNM (a great decision), was gutted at how weak the Arctics were and was bored by Radiohead. On paper a good set of headliners but a great example of why not to put too much stock in three bands when looking at the line-up.

I think Arctics will return. Maybe not 2012 as it looks like they'll take a break. Possible return for Last Shadow Puppets, but maybe 2013. Everyone who has slated them for their 2009 performance, it was not bad, they just played their new album which nobody new and people got fed up. But people quickly forget how good they were with their 2005 and 2006 performances! It balances out. And Suck it and See is bloody good afterall!
