Does Bob Dylan not warrant a headline slot? I mean this is no mere mortal, this is Bob. Fucking. Dylan. You gents know that, yes? Look at the toss that gets fourth, shit, look at the toss that gets sub.

i can't see The Cure headlining Glastonbury any time in the near future, if at all again. they worked so well at Bestival because, at the time, it was such a huge booking for such a niche festival. they had nothing to win and nothing to lose - just got on stage, did their shit to an eager crowd, and left, and Bestival was the perfect festival for them to do that. can't help but feel Reading and Leeds struggled to get headliners last year and so The Cure were drafted in off of the hype of their Bestival performance. no doubt in my mind if they hadn't done Bestival, they wouldn't of done Reading and Leeds. but what do they really have to gain from doing Glastonbury these days? can't see anybody getting overly excited over it, they're past the point of needing to promote new albums etc. i'd find it weird if they headlined

You made out like they only headlined Leeds cause there was no one else and if they hadn't played bestival they wouldn't have headlined...which they still definately would have.

Well i was there and there was definitely more than 8... And if it was say arctic monkeys, cure and rolling stones headlining you would think the fact cure were there would stop anyone going? And for one thing i didn't even say they would headline glasto i was merely slating that they were no way a last resort headliner for leeds festival.

(Changing the subject just slightly...) Is there any particular reason Bob Dylan hasn't played in 15 years? With Tempest out, and no dates apart from Hop Farm off the back of it, I can see him perhaps subbing Pyramid (or lower? He played 4th last time)

Just so I'm talking about headliners, I'm really starting to think they're not going to get FM or The Stones. They won't get both, without a doubt, and it seems like it's Stones they're yearning for. I'm guessing Arctics - Radiohead - Gaga or Arctics - Stones - WTT

With people saying they only played R&L because Bestival went down well, surely its more a sign that the band enjoyed it so decided to tour festivals for the first time in god knows how many years. I think the fact that a rare headliner who could bring some quality to the line-up and shift tickets.

I really don't agree with any arguments saying they should play because it's a "interesting headliner".

It was good for bestival, didn't work for reading.

I don't think they are going to booked anyway, nothing says they will, can't see the eavis's wanting them. They're not playing.

i'm not saying The Cure are any lesser band than that which usually play Reading and Leeds, but i think it was definitely a case of 'we've used up all of the headliners who fit our usual criteria, so we're gonna have to go for a curveball'. it's no secret that The Cure are not a Reading and Leeds type band, and were very much a massive punt

the only negative of those three headliners, for me, is what with the Other Stage names being thrown about (namely Sigur Ros and Smashing Pumpkins) i'd have to make a very difficult decision at some point (namely, and this is all prediction, Lady Gaga vs Smashing Pumpkins) which is why i'd prefer Fleetwood to be there so i wouldn't have to make such a hard decision
