no, I'm entirely suggesting that, seriously - if you think soni have some incredible pact with Rammstein you are deluding yourself. and if you cant see that 2 festivals of this kind are diluting an already shallow gene pool you are blind.

its not the fucking x-files you know.

RHCP for Soni France I guess: Soni tweeted "Do the French like spicy food?/Juste pour savoir... Les Francais aiment-ils manger épicé?". Seeing as Soni Turkey was rumoured to have them and was also rumoured to be the same weekend as France/the UK, makes sense. Of course it doesn't mean anything for Soni UK, but I guess Evanescence aren't headlning after all.

I don't think your wrong in your 2nd bit but i think you are in your 1st bit. Download got Aerosmith - never seemed likely, they got AC/DC - even less likely, they never got Rammstein as it was never the right time? Come off it, for all the time they rarely play the Uk they could never arrange a tour around making an appearance there like they did Soni? I'm not saying Soni has some sort of thing over them, I'm saying if Download bothered them, they'd have done it.

you couldnt be more wrong, rammstein arent a convention band, they dont do press, they do hardcore porn promo videos, they do a boxset full of dildos, they didnt WANT to arrange a tour around any festivals, they CHOSE not to, the stars aligned for soni, do you think soni have yoda booking the bands or something?

download if anything has more pull, the bigger crowd, the bigger history, and the more historic venue. if soni wasnt around that year, they would MAYBE have done download if they felt like it. or they may have just done their own tour, or they may have done fuck all.

It's a little strange that they didn't just announce them today for the French Sonisphere?

Plus unless the 3rd headliner is a big name, I don't understand from a Killi business sense why RHCP are not headlining the UK version instead of playing their own gig?

No idea. I think Chilis wanted to do their own thing, 2 Open air dates was very optimistic though - even though their tour sold very well last December. Should have just did Sunderland and Sonisphere or Knebworth and Sonisphere, 2 open air dates, especially both being in England wasn't a good idea. I don't know how well tickets have sold, seen people saying they are selling poorly but I don't think there's been any evidence of that other than the fact it hasn't sold out. Either way I'd love them at Sonisphere still, was thinking of going to the knebworth or Sunderland date, but them at Sonisphere would save me the effort :P

Nope but thank you for your concern anyway.

Are you on drugs and hallucinated I wrote something I didn’t? Honestly what I did say was that 1. Rammstein had never played Download, 2. Download have wanted them to play for years.

Yep Rammstein have never played an UK fest before Soni and there’s been talk of them quitting but so what? It doesn't change that they have been on the fest circuit, toured in the summer and played in the UK before 2010 and when it was 2010 they didn’t play Download. So yeah, I do think Soni manage to pull a trick off in getting them.

I would agree that Download have been trying to get them (going off that they have been the most wanted band in polls for festivals such as Download and Nova Rock) and if they have not they certainly should have been trying.

I would guess it just hasn't been the right time for Rammstein to play Download, I don't think they actually care too much about playing festivals never mind an English one, they have never been a band that has felt the need to conform with what every other band does, sing in English, play the festival circuit , Sonisphere was just just lucky I guess and it was good timing and for me a massive thing to see the band playing at a UK festival

It also takes 10-12 hours to set up the current stage for a Rammstein gig so this also has to be factored into why they don't play festivals on a regular basis.

Looking forward to seeing them again in Manchester in a few weeks time.

yep, it's come from that same poster.

My putting it up is actually nothing to do with me personally. I've been passed a garbled msg, which included a supposed guarantee that it's genuine that came from someone else (a media source) down the line before it got to that msg that was passed to me.

I've checked nothing out about it myself.

Hence why I said 'think', based only on what I've been told. It could be wrong, and one particular thing about it does suggest to me that it might be.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
