There is no reason why any of the bands playing Sonsiphere cannot play R&L, very doubtful that they would share headliners for obvious reasons though I remember Frank Turner pulling out of Sonsiphere a few years ago when he was much smaller than he currently is due to Sonsiphere telling him he would have to be exclusive to them and he wouldn't be able to play R&L.

I'm surprised that QOTSA aren't getting mentioned more. New album on the way, not doing Download, unlikely to be at R&L (subbing three times in six years is a bit muxh even for them). Seem like a good shout unless they've declared that they aren't touring.

Oooh on that point surely Frank Turner must be likely for Soni this year? He has stated he is giving Reading a break, played Download last year and he is doing his first arena show earlier in the year... could easily get a high slot on Saturn I would think... his Reading crowd was enormous on main this year and then he packed out the lockup later on.

RE: the Frank Turner stuff, that was in year 1 and both Soni and Reading were getting a bit catty about bands, if I recall Reading poached quite a lot of smaller acts out from under sonisphere, but that's just the way it goes I guess. Since then they did both Share Pendulum in 2010, so things aren't so hostile between the two anymore, probably because they both realised they can both survive healthily in the festival market alongside each other.

As for QotSA, would LOVE them to play, think they could easily do arenas too, their tours generally sell out super fast and the last tour was them playing the self-titled in full, which isn't all that well known to be honest amongst more casual fans, yet the gigs still sold out instantly. With a new album out I think they'd do well to do some festivals, and I don't think an arena tour is beyond them either, doubt it'd completely sell out, but they'd at least sell out standing and most seating at any arena I imagine.

Only the Friday available for Blink 182 now as they have announced gigs on Saturday and Sunday, I still think they will play either T or Sonisphere, maybe not as headliners of either?

They are playing Bournemouth on the Saturday 7th and Eden Session on Sunday 8th.

    • NIN and Bjork for sure 😉
    • When are  the stage splits ??
    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
