Seeing as it's not been posted on here, Queen, Faith No More and Slash are heavily rumoured to be headlining sonisphere France, a French Radio station leaked it. That's the same weekend as Soni UK, usually shares bands/headliners (Slipknot and 'Tallica this year). Queen and FNM to headline Soni UK with Slash as undercard?

Post-Christmas blues? Here's some news that should raise your spirits, Van Halen have today announced they WILL be touring in 2012! The first batch of dates/tickets are to go onsale on 10th January 2012.

The band's official Facebook Page revealed the news, along with a mass email to fans, directing fans to the band's official YouTube page to check out a "teaser video" announcing the tour.

The teaser sees Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang Van Halen, along with the returning David Lee Roth, partying on-stage, rehearsing, playing their instruments while recorded versions of classic tracks such as 'Jump,’ ‘Panama’ and ‘Hot for Teacher’ play in the background.

Check out the tour trailer below...

There is no mention of the anticipated new album, nor do we hear any new material from the band, so it seems Van Halen are still remaining tight-lipped on details and are dealing out the good news bit-by-bit...perhaps a new track will emerge soon?

No dates or venues for the 2012 tour have been confirmed as yet, however, Stereoboard will be keeping a close eye on Van Halen developments and posting news on dates and venues as soon as they are officially confirmed by the band.

Now, back to those Turkey sandwiches...

Queen are still Queen. Sure they're not as good without Freddy, but that doesn't make them bad, or not headliner worthy.

Alice in Chains are touring successfully without Layne, I suppose they aren't Alice in Chains though?

Fact is, Brian May is still in the band (and he wrote most of the songs), Roger Taylor is still in the band. John has retired now, so I think Chris Chaney from Jane's Addiction is gonna be playing Bass for them and as for a new singer, it'll probably be Adam Lambert. Is he as gooda s Freddy? No, but he's got a cracking voice either way, so should do a great job. Can't really think of a finer band to close the festival, everybody knows and loves Queen, would be a great singalong.

I disagree, it's looking more and more likely as I've heard it from a few places.

Queen have said they were only looking to do some dates next year - which makes sense, both Adam (and Chris Chaney of Jane's Addiction who is meant to be filling in for bass) probably have a lot of their own stuff on, and with a new singer they'll probably want to try out a short tour first of all rather than book up a full world tour of dates to see how things go. Could do a couple of the Sonispheres + some other festivals/own dates throughout July, maybe some in August, but I've only heard of rumoured dates in July so far.

Why Sonisphere? Knebworth was the last place Queen played with it's classic line up with Freddy, and with Adam being a singer much more similar to Freddy I could see them wanting to return to pay tribute, would give the show a lot more meaning anyways. It'd also answer why Sonisphere has had to hold off announcing so far and why they've been so quietly confident. I'd be confident of a sell out if I had Queen to announce :P

Considering he just called them "dicks" earlier on twitter when for the past number of years he's always said they're brilliant and his dream headliner suggests to me the news story he kicked up about (and said was false) about VH dropping out of Download was most likely true...which would suggest Sonisphere.

    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
    • Additional dates added already
    • I feel like it's not COMPLETELY beyond the realm of possibility that they could headline but I just don't see it.    They're not doing anything other than headlining. So nah, I don't see it.
    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
