Glasto Tent Check

Guest Grateful Ghoul

Recommended Posts

Just got my tent out of the shed for the annual Glasto check up and it appears moths have been munching away and made 3 big holes in the tent :O

All repaired now but glad I checked before we go, so a quick lesson there for any Glasto virgins.

It will be the 5th Glasto for the old faithful tent, but she's getting getting a little battered now and seen better days, so we will have to make sure we give her one hell of a send off this year.

Is it wrong to be sad and to be so attached to a tent?

Nope.

Glad you got it sorted though, especially considering the forecast at the moment may require tents to be waterproof

Got out our trailer tent today checked it - the frame and canvas OK but discovered the striplights that run off the leisure battery weren't working. Can't fathom why. Battery charger says the battery is OK. Something to work on this week. But otherwise it's all packed and stored at Drewstraat's ready to roll.

Now to rationalise the food and drink we're all taking.

I've got three tents to choose from

if it's guaranteed hot and sunny I'll take this:

If it looks like it's going to be mixed weather I'll take this:

And if it's going to munt it down all week I'll take tent No. 1 and put the fecker up inside this monster:

Put mine up today in glorious sunshine, by the time I finished it was pissing down - damn showers! typical, and hopefully not a bad omen

Anyway, no leaks and no holes. So alls well with the old thing - had it 9 years, Eurohike Teviot and its done me proud.

As well as checking it prior remember to take it all with you - i have friends who are at Rockness at mo, have huge tent with living area, sleeping area and porch bit and they forgot to take the inners!! So have a huge big tent with 2 tiny pop up tents inside (i tried not to laugh to much!)

Last year I aired my old tent on the Sunday, realised it was knackered. Ordered a new one from Millets on the Monday with next day delivery, it turned up on Tuesday.

You'll be fine!

Finally put mine up this evening in our tiny shoebox flat. It looks ok, barring some gaffer tape marks after I foolishly used it to attach survival blankets last year.

I was going to do the clever thing and put my tent fully up to check it but with a cerment garden I can't peg it out.

So opened it up in house checked it out I have all the bits for it although a bit worried instrustions are all stuck together so not quite sure how to put it together. A male friend did it for me at T in the Park last time I used it. I have put loads of tents together before so I should be ok but I'm going with a friend this year who has not camped before so she can't really help.
